    Question about set up.

I am set up with PS3 to my TV via HDMI and for audio PS3 via optical cable to my amp to speakers. So a more optimal set up is component cables out PS3 to amp to speakers? I'm having trouble understanding why analogue cables would be superior to optical out.

Also, how do I judge display lag so I can set it up properly? The notes should hit the bar right on beat correct? Is there a test to calibrate? At the moment it seems musically (what I hear) I should hit the note about 1/4 to 1/2 second before the visual note meets the line. I don't know if that means there is lag or not.

    Thanks

The reason is that the digital cables need to be converted from digital to analog before you can hear the sound. This will allways be slower than the analog sound that does not need this conversion.
