Question Purchasing another copy of the same game, but from other platform

    Dear Ubisoft

I would like to ask you to explain, what will happen, when I own Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - Deluxe Edition from Steam and today there is the same game to buy from GamersGate. When I will buy this game once more and receive new CD-Key, will I be able to add this game to Uplay Games tab?

This game is already installed on my HDD and registered in Ubisoft, so... Will your system allow me to do that? Will Uplay detect the I have got Steam version installed and in my Games Tab in Uplay there will be only PLAY button or DOWNLOAD button?

Why? You are not allowing users to have already purchased games on other platforms, to be listed in Games tab in Uplay, so the only method is to buy them again and add in such way.

I would be glad for you reply.
    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards.

    Sincerely
    HIVAT

At the time of Uplay 2.0 release I had my steam keys already registered and also unused retail cdkey for AC Revelations (actually I used it before to get extra content, but as far as game registration it was unused). This works as follows:
When you run retail game or even steam game directly (by going to installation folder and launching game exe) you will be prompted to enter retail cdkey. Just enter it and game will be added to your Uplay library. So yes, you can have the same game twice on PC platform bound to one account, steam and non-steam releases, your steam release will not be unbound (you can actually check all bound cdkeys by opening a file in Uplay\cache\ownership\ in notepad, dont try to edit this file directly through, its only a cache and will be redownloaded from Uplay).
Both rreleases will share the same account status, so you will keep all your extra content from deluxe and uplay rewards working in retail release, multiplayer data (level, stats, etc) is also shared for games with MP component.
Appearance of download button depends on your windows registry. If steam properly creates regiistry entries for said game (it does not for many games including AC R) then Uplay will believe your game to be already installed and you will only see "play" button. Pressing this button then results in an error (because for retail Uplay launches not game itself but its auto-updater which is absent in steam installation cause steam itself handles updates). To resolve this simply "remove local cache" for your game in steam basically uninstalling this. Then launch Uplay and at this point you will see "download" option.
