Villagers not taking available food from storehouse

    Good day all

I am new to the forums (just logged in for the first time). I have tried searching the forums and didn't find a post related to my problem. So if I'm spamming, I apologize.

Firstly, this is a great game. I have spend hours playing it and really enjoy it so much. It remind me a lot of the old settlers 2 game which I used to love when I was younger.

So, as I have been playing, one problem keeps coming up. Whenever I use food boosts on residence, sometimes the workyard villagers do not go and get it. One time, I had a storehouse with 20 pieces of bread in it and a brewer and baker next to it. When I activated the food boost, the baker had no problem to continue working, but brewer immediately complained that there was nothing for him, although there is more than enough. When mousing over the brewer, it shows that it indeed uses that storehouse. Even my church did not take the food, also next to the storehouse. This also happens to other industries sometimes, but it seems the brewers have this problem mostly.

It is probably something very stupid that I keep overlooking, but I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

I assume the baker and the brewery are workyards on the same residence? Otherwise it makes no sense to boost a bakery.

First I will say that I had these kinds of problems when I started playing, but it seems you just get a sense of what is going to work if you keep playing long enough.

I will also say that I have had things happen that I just thought had to be a glitch. Like having one bible left in the storehouse, but no brother produced because there was no bible in the church. Who else would have wanted that bible? But mostly there are reasons that it works the way it does, I think.

I think it works something like this. All the bread/fish in the system is allocated in a priority queue. I think the storehouses reserve enough of a resource for a workyard to operate twice or maybe even three times. So if the bakery has more priority than the brewery (probably because it was built first) there might have to be 4 bread/fish in the storehouse for the brewery to get one. But the bread/fish in that storehouse might also be reserved for a workyard that has more priority across town or in another sector, and if there are not enough workers moving the bread it can take a long time to feed everyone. Try to force the brewery to get some food: temporarily set your baker and maybe some other workyards that are using the food to idle. It seems to me that if you can force a workyard to get food once, your problem disappears.

That's my theory. I know some of it is true.

I hope this was at least a little bit helpful.

In reality it works like this:
    1. If the game is lagging, then transport system does not work under ANY conditions
    2. if the game is not lagging transport system works under fully upgraded storehouses and stony roads in the castle sector at least, even better also outside castle sector

Upgrade storehouses as soon as possible, even before you upgrade houses. With this system I have defeated numerous opponents. Also I am being called as number one quitter and loser etc, because it seems I am the only one who knows, that lagging cripples transport system down and I quit such lagging games.
    Ave.
