Bought a game in Ubishop, unable register in Uplay | Forums

I picked up Assassins Creed: Revelations when it was on sale in the ubi shop and rather than having it added to the uplay games tab i just got a "Assassins_Creed_Revelations_DownloadManager_en.ex e" file that fetched me the install files. I installed the game from these but when I start and try to register it with the Uplay client I am told that my key is already registred with another Uplay Account.

Is this a bug with in-browser purchases or have i been so unfortunate as to get a pirated CD-Key?
