Thread: A few great ideas that could make this game so much better. | Forums

A noise and visibility meter would be nice. At least make the guards investigate or get suspicious whenever you get that Warning signal on the screen.

har har har, you are exactly right Ristar, pat yourself on the back.
I don't know what I was thinking, assuming that two people having a conversation were actually talking to and responding TO each other, rather than just rambling on about their own thoughts ignoring what the other one was saying.

I'm glad you WERE paying attention though. I'm sure you do understand where I was coming from though had the guy actually been saying that the VA in SCC sucked too.
My "must not have been paying attention" part was referring to SCC not the phone text.

    - CQC: Would have to take more effort on Sam's part. A lot of the moves would have to become more time consuming, involving more of a struggle perhaps. It wouldn't earn a M&E token. It wouldn't be so easy to perform. The list of moves would probably be restricted to those that were more efficient and remove the ones that were more about style.

    - M&E: Would have to be available all the time. The limit to how many Sam could mark should be determined by the amount of bullets in Sam's gun. He'd miss a few probably. It wouldn't work the same from various different positions and locations. A buddy could join in whenever they felt like it, at any time. Players could do it on as many enemies as they could, as frequently as they wanted.

    - KIM: Would probably be more like a SEAL maneuver, gun up high, moving fast and quietly, silenced, clearing every space of every body as you went until you reached the objective.

    - Gadgets: Would be limited in their effectiveness. Wearing goggles would impede the more athletic actions, and quick aiming. EMP's would cause real problems for Sam.

Just to clarify. The quote above is from a thread where I was making a comment about what kind of changes would be required to facilitate true believability, authenticity and realism in SCB.
My points were arguing against a rigid requirement for those three factors because the kind of required changes (of which I only gave a few examples, as seen above) would inhibit a lot of the fun and variety and game play freedom that is afforded by a looser demand for realism.

It is my opinion that unrealistic elements CAN be presented in a believable way with attentive crafting and design. And that kind of realishness is not only acceptable, but necessary for SCB to provide a broad range of viable, balanced and fun game play.

I don't think we should do the things quoted because a simulator like experience is not fulfilling (IMO) for very long.

I used Assassin's Creed as a good example of unbelievable elements presented in a believable manner (the free running, overwhelming odds in combat, leaps of faith, etc), it all feels and looks real, even though we all know for a fact that it is very far from real.
