    GamesCom 2012 - Dev's Q&A - Splinter Cell Blacklist

    About the game itself:

I want to know if Blacklist will have Conviction for the PS3 because PS3 Owners did not get Conviction and would it be a PC port of the game? (Scott David Betson)
Zack Cooper (ZC): There are no plans to release Conviction on PS3 at this point.

In splinter cell there is the Kinect which can be used for distractions and etc. but would you still be able to do those things without the Kinect? (Jonathan Longworth)
ZC: Yes, anything you do with Kinect can be done through your controller (just without your voice J )

    About stealth:

About Blacklist : is there stealth, hacking, hiding bodies, more audio, no crap black and white, night vision, picking locks, better climbing, better story, lethal/ non lethal kills? (Michael Sewell)
ZC: There is plenty of stealth in Blacklist, and yes, the black and white filter has been removed. Non-lethal combat has returned, along with the ability to hide bodies. This will all be wrapped around a great, immersive, storyline that we think you’ll love.

Will black list follow chaos theory step by dividing the game into stealth and aggressive mode and let the player to choose? Or still look like conviction? (Quách Vũ Ân Khoa)
ZC: There are three main play styles that will be featured in Blacklist. Ghost – which we have recently asked the community to help define; Panther (agro-stealth); Action. You will be rewarded based on how well you dedicate yourself to whichever path you choose. More details to come!

And with splinter cell how much stealth is there going to be? is the story going to be longer? how long is the game going to be? I beat conviction fairly quick but the deniable ops was really fun. (David Ricketts)
ZC: Blacklist is the biggest, most ambitious, Splinter Cell ever made.

Will Splinter Cell Blacklist really provide the option of taking COMPLETELY non-hostile approaches to the levels. Or will you force players to try out the fancy killing in motion gig? (Christiaan Vromans)
ZC: There will be tutorials and certain story-driven moments that may take the decision out of your hands, but otherwise we are doing our best to make sure you can get through the entire game without registering a kill.

Is there stealth in Blacklist? (Garrus Vakarian)
ZC: Yes. And plenty of it, too.

    About in-game functionalities:

Can you get 100% ratings in Splinter Cell Blacklist's levels like Chaos Theory? (Garrus Vakarian)
ZC: Our rating system is a little different in Blacklist. It works within the economy system, which we will be able to discuss in detail in the coming months.

Why Sam doesn’t get aged? (Jobin A. George)
ZC: He's more efficient and stealth in each splinter cell game. We’re not focusing on numbers, we’re focusing on the character of Sam Fisher – who is still the experienced, elite special operative, you know and love.

About the world of Splinter Cell Blacklist:

Is Blacklist a direct continuation of Conviction? What role will Victor Coste play in Blacklist? (Eddie David)
ZC: Splinter Cell Blacklist picks up 6 months after the events of Conviction. We are not yet discussing the role of Vic, but stay tuned!

Splinter Cell, are we still going to hear what happened with the whole escape scene in the end of conviction? (Jr Moreno)
ZC: You will most certainly find out how Sam got back in the field!

What other characters from the Splinter Cell series will we meet in Splinter Cell Blacklist, apart from the one we have already seen in the trailers? (Clément Devillers)
ZC: We are hoping to talk about the cast of characters in the near future!

    About weapons and gadgets:

Will splinter cell: blacklist give us the opportunity to use new gadgets and the goggles more the conviction? (Darshan Galadaran)
ZC: Yes, there will be plenty of load-out options including customizable weaponry, goggles, and other gadgets.

Will there be the SC-20k in Splinter Cell: Blacklist ? Will the night vision goggles be like they were in Splinter Cell Conviction (see-thru walls) or like the previous games? (Clément Devillers)
ZC: We will be talking about the extensive amount of weaponry, gadgets, and goggles in the near future.

Will there be any agent or weapon customization? Ex. Gunsmith from GRFS? (On Google+, Francisco Herrera)
ZC: There will be plenty of customization to suit your preferences in Blacklist.

In Splinter Cell Blacklist are there going to be sleeping bullets like the old Splinter Cell Games? (on Google+, Jordan Iniguez)
ZC: There will be lots of non-lethal options for combat in Blacklist. Stay tuned for more details!

    About voice actor Michael Ironside:

Why did you get rid of ironside as sam fisher (Bradley God-Like Parker)
ZC: Early in the development of Splinter Cell Blacklist, we made a choice to focus on high realism and production values that would create a more immersive, lifelike story experience in the game. In Splinter Cell Blacklist we are incorporating full performance capture (full body, facial and voice captured at one time) using technology similar to the innovations implemented by James Cameron in his movie Avatar. We required an actor who could not only deliver a commanding voice performance, but also a demanding physical performance to really bring the character of Sam Fisher to life. We auditioned dozens of actors, but the moment we met Eric Johnson, we knew instantly we’d found our new Sam Fisher.

    About multiplayer:
ZC: We have listened to the fans, and have brought back Spies vs. Mercs and co-op, but at this point it’s too early to provide any details. Stay tuned!

We hope your enjoyed Zack's feedback but as he said there are still a lot of things to be announced. So don't hesitate to visit Splinter Cell Blacklist official Facebook page to get some more info!

I'm glad to hear that there are tons of up and coming announcements. It seems like we've really only seen the tip of the iceberg with these gameplay videos. Thanks for posting that, Andre.

The guy that asked about the "sleeping" bullets made me facepalm. The rest were very good questions, too bad we have to wait so long for more details to trickle down.

Why are people laughing at the "sleeping bullets" thing? I'm confused lol

I didn't really know what he meant by that which may be why haha my best guess is like....a sticky cam? Since you can let it stay and "sleep" and then use it? Idek.

Sleeping bullets = Ring airfold round, sticky shockers.

It's not that hard to understand.
