chessmaster 10 question
Does anyone know much about the SETUP POSITION in Chessmaster 10 where you can set up a partial game practice scenerio.
Inasmuch as I don't know a lot about computers, I would like to know how I can store and save these segments of chess game
situations. I have read the Chessmaster Instructions, but I guess they assume that I know how to save them.
I clicked on "file" and it lists some of my chess situations, but when I click on one, nothing happens.
I believe this part of Chessmaster is a good tool for figuring out best moves in particular situations and I would really like to
be able to use it to its full potential.

This can be a bit confusing... when you go into Set Up Position, none of the menus work until you close the Set Up Position window.
Anyway, after you set up the position and get to the point where you start to play, do the following:- Go to the File menu and select 'Save'.
- Choose the folder where you want to save the game (using the default folder is recommended).
- Enter the file name (change this to something you'll remember).
- Select what type of file you'd like to save it as (Chessmaster Game, PGN File, Board Position, or Forsythe Position)
Chessmaster games are saved with an extension of *.CMG and PGN files are saved with an extension of *.PGN. Board Position and Forsythe are both saved as *.TXT files.
You can then exit Chessmaster. When you go back into Chessmaster, go into Training or Set Up Position mode and load the file you previously saved:
Go to the File menu and select 'Load'
Select the folder where the game is saved.
Select the type of file to load (Chessmaster or PGN, Text, or all)
Select how to open the selected file (Chessmaster, PGN, Board Position, or Forsythe). This is very important... if you try to load a Board position file as Forsythe (or vice versa), you'll get an error.
Hope this helps,
.
