Thread: How do you like to spend your down time? | Forums

How do you like to spend your down time?

I know that gaming is a big part of most everyone's life here, but what else do you turn to when you have down time? Do you enjoy reading books? And if so what kinds?
Do you like surfing the net and what are your main go to sites? Or do you hit the gym and workout or go running to relax?

I'm curious to see who likes what, especially since everyone is so unique and comfortable in their respective zones

I personally enjoy reading. My family likes to say I have the Phenomenon syndrome. I'll read a book that's 500-700 pages in 24 hours. And then as soon as I finish that one, I move onto another. It happens in spurts and is so random! One week I read 8 books. Let's just say my personal library currently holds something along the lines of 500-600 books! I have a problem I know

I've recently gotten back into drawing again... looking forward to posting some of my finished pics up online somewhere when I'm done. Also, a big fan of reading -- sociology and psychology type non-fiction, crime thrillers from UK authors mostly, and comics. Marvel girl for life, yo! :P

I love nature too, but since I live in the city it can be kinda cumbersome to get somewhere more natural to go hiking, but hopefully I'll be able to do that more often soon! Just came back from a hike on my family's property here -- a full jungle hike, made me feel a little like Tomb Raider haha!

I have the attention span of a goldfish so I'm always doing 100 things at the same time. I love reading. I like to make costumes so I sew a lot. I like to write so I'm always working on a few writing projects at a time. I also make hand painted video game maps and sell them on etsy. I am always on the internet, I'm an internet addict Lol

I'm usually on facebook, twitter, another forum, cracked.com, youtube, funny or die, and I used to spend a lot of time on hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com but it hasn't been updated in a while. It's still worth a look at though if you've never been there.

If I'm not on the internet (which is almost never) and I'm not playing video games, I catch up on my shows. I love Doctor Who, Merlin, Sherlock, Pretty Little Liars, Awkward, and I'm in love with The Guild.

downtime..? haha what is that and where do I get some?
The Alot is better than you at everything.

OMG I love Merlin and the Guild! Felicia Day is amazing and the show is hilarious And Debz, I'd love to see your artwork! I like seeing all the untapped talent out there, and art is an amazing medium! And Lola, do you cosplay or anything for the costumes or just for the fun of sewing?

Lately my spare time has been all about running! I am training for the Warrior Dash next month so that has been fun … NOT! About four months ago I decided I couldn’t work through an injury and just quit exercising altogether. I am kicking myself for taking such a long break now, but it felt so good to be lazy! :x

If you haven't heard of the Warrior Dash check it out here!

Aside from that, I’m really into music, dance, crocheting, and reading!

That's awesome QueenofHearts! I did a Soldier's Challenge 2 months ago, talk about getting my arse handed to me.. Was an amazing workout though. Running is such a great stress reliever and as always a good way to stay in shape Glad you got back into it! Best of Luck on your Dash.

Since I'm not working, I'm doing a lot of reading. I started watching the True Blood series back in May/June, and since the current season is about to come to an end I have been reading the books. I'm on book 7 out of 12 and am enjoying it. I also really enjoy reading historical fiction, specifically dealing with Henry VIII, the Borgias, and ancient Egypt/Greece/Rome.

A bit ago I started to learn how to cross-stitch, but once I figured it out I lost interest. That's sort of my problem. I like learning how to do something, but then once I do I am not longer as interested and put it down. Same thing happened when I bought a pasta maker and learned how to make pasta from scratch. I did recently get a drawing tablet, since I have a fantastic idea for a comic in my head, but what drawing/artistic ability I had as a child is completely shot. I may have to find someone else to be the artist, so who knows.

Aside from that I like cooking, shopping (especially for things like clothing, makeup, accessories, shoes, purses - ZOMG PURSES), game nights with my friends where we play board/card games... and that's about it I think.
Massive thanks to EmperorxZurg for the sweet sig!

VivoEstSomnio - you shouldn't give up on drawing just cos you're a little out of practice. I found the same when I tried to pick it up again recently. Just try scribbling/drafting idly whenever you get a chance - on the phone, waiting during a load screen or people to connect in lobby. It will come back! Also - I have the same problem with losing interest after learning stuff -- once the challenge is over, it gets a bit boring, right? Lol

Queen Of Hearts -- that's so cool you're doing the Warrior Dash. I tend to watch these things and feel motivated for like... 5 minutes! Best way to kick your butt back into exercise though lol!

VivoEstSomnio - I love True Blood! Although I find myself applying this picture quite a bit lately! Have you watched the Tudors?

DebsTheFuzz - It really is!! We are going on a girls trip for it as well so everyday that i'm like I don't want to run i'm like ... I HAVE to!! I don't want to be embarrassed in front of anyone or not finish! &You should do it!! They do it all over.

@QueenofHearts-- I was training in running/biking/flipping tractor tires, climbing rock walls, throwing sandbags, low crawling under wire, Balance beams etc. Was a series of 3 different events targetting everything. Strength, endurance, agility. Was crazy training but felt great finishing the event and knowing I accomplished something! GL in yours girl.
