These are awesome suggestions, especially Onlive when I get back home to Australia. My current trip is a not-much-sightseeing type trip - mostly family business, and most of my trips tend to be this way, so I do have a lot of downtime and have gotten through a few hours of shows, games and reading.

General consensus seems to be - laptop, phone, maybe one handheld and maybe one eReader or a book? I really should have set the iPad up a bit more - it could've taken the place of all my handhelds I brought!

A lot of people talk against them but I love mine. I'm able to play Skyrim on ultra high settings with no lag and quick loading times. The only issues I have is overheating but I just bought a better cooling pad and it works amazingly!
Sounds awesome! What model do you have?

I had to retire my gaming laptop recently. For one, it was starting to show its age, and two... it was crazy heavy.
That thing would kill my back/shoulder at airports. Was not the most portable thing in the world.

I've been debating on buying a 3DS I already have a regular one. Should I upgrade now or wait until they come out with more games?

If you enjoy a limited supply of games and just a lot of fluff then definitely get one, other wise I would just wait.

I agree with this. I'm sad that I've barely touched mine and play more NDS games than 3DS ones. But that is going to change when Monster Hunter comes out! ^_^ One of my fave game series by far!

I normally just bring my 3DS with a Pokemon game. Sometimes Mario Kart too.

Hahah I love Pokeman, that's that best game to pass time with. You will start and then next thing you know its 12 hours later and you only have 4 badges ^_^

I base what I bring with me on what my trip is about. Like right now I'm packing for a two week stay in an area because I have to do intense occupational therapy on my right hand and arm. So I'm bringing an iPad to read comics, and a PS Vita to try an get movement back in my hand.

My last trip I brought my laptop and my 3DS for a week long trip for work. I agree that bringing to much electronics with you can be overwhelming.

Some of the tech i do follow before travelling. I first make sure to load all of my favorite songs on my iPhone and few of my addictive games.

I bring my Kindle and my 3DS and soon, I will be pressed to choose between bringing my 3DS or a Vita along on a trip! Hehe! I just need to wait til my shiny white Assassin's Creed one comes in! It's already paid off... can you tell I'm excited? haha

But really, eReaders are a lifesaver, you can literally load it up with tons of books and games, and they cover many of the basic functions of a computer like web-browsing, and my Kindle Fire has great battery life. So really, a tablet/eReader and a small handheld console should serve you well.

Ohhh and when I'm on a long trip, I pack my laptop if I need to do work, but that goes in luggage and not in carry-ons, so it feels less overwhelming. AND for the 3DS, I bring the "Pull 'n Go Portfolio" which is fairly small, but holds a TON of games, and will also hold your 3DS console in a smaller, removable holster. Look into it if you travel a lot and need a handy place to keep your DS/3DS games and accessories.
