Knowing how picky RS can be at reconginizing notes, that Peavey fretless may not work that well. It couldn't hurt to try, I suppose.

I have a used Ibanez SR400 due for delivery on Monday. I'll post pics when I get it. It's missing some of the knobs, but I got it for under $200 (including shipping and one year warranty) and I don't care about cosmetic issues. From what I have read, it should be a very solid bass for that price. I probably will end up splitting my time around 80% guitar / 20% bass as guitar is really my primary focus. I taught myself some bass many years ago in high school (had a Peavey T-40 I wish I would have kept) but never learned how to slap/pop. That's one skill I'd like to gain for sure.
I have no personal expereience with Ibanez, but I hear good things about them. As far as replacement knobs go, they're easy enough to get, the black knobs on my Squier Jazz are not originals, I got those from BassPartsResource.

I'll be using a classic black Dean Edge 10A Active PJ bass guitar I recently bought just for use with the Rocksmith Bass pack. I ripped out the cheap Crystal Sound 2-band EQ the guitar came with and installed a much higher quality Artec SE2 EQ in it's place. Big difference, much cleaner sound, well worth the extra cost. I'm much more excited about learning the bass guitar than I ever was about learning to play a 6 string!! Here's a pic of the bundle I bought for $225 delivered:

The Artec 2-band EQ upgrade was another $26, so it was a great deal overall for an active bass package.

I'm currently planning to get an Ibanez SR500, along with Rocksmith itself, at the beginning of next month. I never really had any interest in learning six-string guitar, but I know I'll love playing bass.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about finding knobs for it, but need to wait to figure out what the pot shafts are like. There are 2 differnet types of pots on this bass: 2 that are for the volume knob and pickup balance knob that seem to have a full size tele-style knob with an allen nut holding them on to the shaft and then there are 3 smaller knobs for the High, Mid, Bass EQ that seem to be push on. I could order the direct replacement parts, but they want like $12/knob - screw that!
My pick-up toggle switch has 3 modes: Swank, Extra Swank, and Super Swank

The knobs I got for my Squier Jazz were push-on (because that's what the bass required) imports for about 6 bucks for the set of three.
