Thread: Remove Uplay all together? | Forums

    Question Remove Uplay all together?

Just throwing this out there, but seeing as you guys (Ubisoft) are having a lot of difficulty with the Uplay servers, why don't you just get rid of it? You won't have to pay for the servers, you won't have to worry about all the current problems associated with it, and us (the players) won't have to deal with all of the problems. EVERYBODY WINS!

the new uplay looks better and has more features than the old one. however it doesn't work properly and after the malware that it installed disguised as a browser plugin (ubisoft still hasn't appologized or sent any emails instructing players to update and minimize the danger they inflicted on us) i vote to remove uplay completelly. if it was any other company i would say wait. with ubisoft it can only get worse so i hope they remove it

I don't want more features. I just want to play the games I have purchased. Is that too much to ask?

No matter how many protests of Ubisoft ever removing poor forms of DRM. THEY WILL NEVER LISTEN. They could just make it simple and go DRM-free but clearly they just want to make it soo awkward for the legal consumer that soon the poor guy that goes and buys a Ubisoft game will turn rogue and be a pirate! arr!

Yeah in doing so makes it easier for people to download games illegally, and lets not go into the "if the DRM was removed people would buy more" as that is total BS and always will be BS, people will steal anything not nailed down even something that costs pennies, because its the nature of the latest generation and high speed broadband to get what they want for free and nothing will change that, until they hit late 20's and they might start to buy things.

I remember the moaning and groaning, OH starforce... must remove it, Securom why is it so intrusive, that Safedisc nonsense wrongly doing this and that and why does Tages make my game start up slower. People wanted internet authorization, they wanted easier platforms to buy games and they wanted something that could store saves. And then they got it with AC2 initially, no disc needed just online authentication... of course the warez users immediately cried cause they couldn't play AC2 like the legit users for the first month, and out came the excuses about the new DRM.

Doesn't matter what DRM or lack of DRM is used, people will still steal.

just desinstall uplay. just don't pay a gapme who use uplay . after less than a year we will found back our game on steam without be in obligation to install more steam like !
sorry guys but steam was here first. i buy my game on it and since i use it i and a lot of friends stop hacking your games.
now we will just boycot origin and uplay games cause we want only 1 application to manage our games.
i understand why you want us to use uplay or origin but it's not what a pc gamer player want.

cause all my games are on steam you're out !

i want farcry 3 cause it look awesome but i will play other game and just don't buy it neither hack it so no use no attention and nothing ! that's all you win !!

steam / origin / uplay and if others do like you we will have so much manager for our game and that do ******** on our computers ... and the day when your studio just close the doors we can not play anymore our game .

STOP that now !! we want to play and not use your uplay! we use steam to buy and manage our game !

i hope the law of money will make you think to let steam user use steam and those who want can use uplay! for sure i will never use them together ! it's crazy !

    Agreed.

No physical copy w/ a VALID uplay product key from a seperate retailer means you can't play? WTF
Why do I have to have the game installed to get the prompt to register my game? I have the key's guys, I payed for my game.

It's intrusive. I'm sure the folk who make the user interfaces for game will tell you....its intrusive. it GETS IN THE WAY OF PLAYING THE GAMES!!!

I just got FAR CRY 3. I don't want to have twitter feeds or get "NOT RECOMMENDED" messages because I've switched features off. I don't care for leaderboards or multiplayer, and when I buy the game and pay full price for it I expect adverts for other games I don;'t want to be thrust at me.

Back in when prince of persia sands of time went on sale, I liked the image UBISOFT had, These day I don't, All I see is a company looking at what steam is doing as a games platform and doing their own far more hostile, far more sales aggresive, far less user friendly version. The games UBI publish are good, In the new world of online games purchasing It feel like the friendly geek behind the counter at the computer games shop has put up toughened safety glass, turned the monitors off and spends so much time protecting his precious shop front that he's forgotten to listen to what the customers want.

Get rid of uplay, or make it single click, single access. I'm not jumping through hoops to buy your triple A games when theres a big indie market emerging.

    Cheers,
    John Cooper.

UPlay is a piece of ****. Bought a game and spend nearly an hour just to make the game lunch because it can't find UPlay, which I already installed. And now it won't lets me play because it keep asking me for cd key again which I already use for my account.

I won't buy Ubisoft product avian, if they still using this ****.

I don't like to buy a game I haven't played... I know it's wrong but I'll dwnld a cracked copy... play for a half hour and then uninstall it. If I liked it, I will buy it. If I didn't care for it... more room on the Hard Drive for one I did like. I dwnlded a copy of FarCry 3 and played it and it was just super. I uninstalled and purchased the game through Steam. After re-dwnlding the game through Steam overnight, I flash up and it walks me through a long and painfull uplay signup process, forcing me to use user names and passwords that I don't like and THEN gives me a run around to allow me to dwnld DLC that came with my purchase. If I had wanted Uplay... I would've asked for it. Thanks for nothing Ubisoft. It's quite a shame because the name Ubisoft used to stand for quality, now you might as well be EA for all the crap you walk us through.

Sorry mates, this is the last game I ever buy from you. With pirated and cracked versions you can be playing within seconds on install. This purchased version was installed two hours before I started this post and I'm still not playing... not sure I will either as I think I still have the cracked version somewhere.

Thanks heaps for proving once again it all about the money and frack the customer.
