Weight based ammo vs max ammo

While most shooters tend to go with the max ammo idea. That is, that each weapon has a specific number of how many rounds can it carry somehow tied to it. Then there are games like Stalker, that impose no ammo limits what so ever. I know, its a game about buying and selling stuff. But what STALKER does, is adds a weight to each round. So more ammo = more weight. You can easily carry 2 000 AK rounds, but you pay a price of being slower. What this would mean in FC3 context is, that more ammo you carry, slower you would be.

PS. Just to add additional lair of exitement, id love to see more stats this time. Like weapon specific kills and ammo usage. Its just that in the end of every shooter, i always wonder how much ammo i did fire from any specific gun or how many enemies did i kill with that weapon. I almost never get the answer. And this kind of stats is almost exclusive to multiplayer, which i almost never play.

But anyway, i would prefer a weight based ammo limits. You can carry as much as you like, but it will make you move slower if you do carry too much.

I think a weight system is of better use in multi player than single player that will make people think more carefully about their loadouts

You know where you are? ... Your in the jungle baby...... Your gonna die.....

    A good First-person Shooter should:

    - have precise, manual controls - e.g. no auto-aim
    - put balance, challenge and fun above realism
    - be full of fast-paced real-time action
    - let cunning, intelligence and skill decide who wins (PvP)
    - have simple mechanics: easy to learn but difficult to master

Weight factor is good for realism especially when factoring in movement. Many were critical of blurryness, and huffing in Far Cry 2 when your character ran, but carrying weight does affect movement in real life. Games with unlimited running ability are an easy character cheat, and not real. Challenges make the game.
    All in a days work.

I think there has to be a line between real and fun, sometimes realism adds alot to a game in the fun department, but sometimes it just hinders it. For instance, bullet drop is amazing in games, i find sniping much more rewarding (and easier) when the game incorporates bullet speed (meaning it doesn't instantly hit target once you squeeze trigger, which i HATE, really bothers me) and bullet drop.

As for sprint however, i really don't like being limited, especially when you have to trek long distances on foot. realism is one thing, but it just gets tedious quickly. In farcry 2 to go places on foot it was sprint, wait for you to almost gas out then do a crouch slide, then wait to get your stamina back and repeat. Is this somehow better than just sprinting? realistic? kind of. fun? no.

As for a "weight" system, I don't think Farcry 3 will have it, could be nice, but the game would have to be built from the ground up to go around this concept. The best system for weight I think was done in Mass Effect 3, where the less weapons and lighter weapons you took, the faster your biotic and tech powers cooled down. but since Farcry 3 doesn't have powers (that we know of) it would only effect stamina (sprint speed and duration) as well as walking speed, which would upset me. I don't want to be concerned that every time i pick up a sniper rifle i am gonna walk and run 30% slower, that would just bring my fun down.
