Thread: Sequel to Prince of Persia 2008 (v-5) | Forums

    Cool

My thoughts on the leak screenshot is that any "game leaks" I've seen personally are EARLY in development. And the developers usually aren't done with a game debugging and such until after "official news" of it breaks.I read back also that appears this new prince won't be able to wall run. I sorta welcome that TBH. I want the next pop game to be unique and have special elements to it instead of the past POP games. If games don't change somewhat it is just new environments, new enemies that is it. Two or three games like that will get sorta repetitive. I heard also that this game will be darker than POP:2008, SOT or TFS, more like Warrior within.Dunno if it is true, but elements appear to be in place of it. I myself liked WW and it's special game play able to slice and behead enemies . And some of the clothing so far in the game look Egyptian/Sumerian. And it looks like you can interact with the crowd/people like in Assassin's creed. I still think next year earliest we will get "official news" on the next POP, especially if is a next gen game since no next gen console news have been released, and focus on other game franchises like Watch dogs, and A.C.

I though got some suggestions for the POP team in this new game:
    1. Less magic in the game, focus on realism. I don't want special powers or being able to save me form a gruesome death or fall AKA Elika.
    2. Have some openness to the game, like able to decide where to go and such.
    3. Make "POP Zero" main enemies have backgrounds and the characters in the game.
    4. In the game decide who you want to ally with or fight. Depending on the choices of friends or allies in the game or enemies give options of new areas, new dialogues, new scenarios, makes you
want to replay the game for different scenarios.
    5. More than one ending in the game depending on your choices, that will CARRY into the sequel/ sequels.
    6. Ability to decide what main weapon to use.
    7. As always look for Ancient Persian culture for influence.

Honestly, what bothers me the most about the whole obsession with "realism" is the fact that no one ever seems to talk about what makes realism appealing. It's always about NOT having magic, and NOT having imaginative things and NOT having beautiful things. It's always about what SHOULDN'T be in the game and that makes it look like people aren't really interested in the creative advantages of a realistic medium, they're just concerned about what people will think of them if they're willing to accept magical elements in their games, and that strikes me as very sad if it's true. It also seems that people who reject fantasy elements still pick and choose obviously fictional things that, for no reason, do not fall into the "hated" category.
A game with fantasy elements can do all the same things a "realistic" one can. It can be molded to satisfy anyone's interests except for those who, for whatever reasons, fear it and continue to demand that developers ingore the rest of us, and make games for them alone, rather then even dare try ot expand their own interests.

I like to think there's a more soulful reason behind this sort of demand, but if there is one, it neverr seems important enough for people to bring up. -__-

As for features, there are plenty of examples for excellent ways to handle each individual idea, and using a couple of them in the next game will really help things. The problem I see is that trying to cram ALL of those features into the game will only result in a shallow game, because all the effort ends up being spent on putting the features in, and not on making them work, so their funtionality is only skin deep and they get boring quickly. Better to pick the most relevant ones and focus on expanding the game around them.

The story was complete since 2005

    That's just bull****
They took risks and innovated with POP 08, and now they dropped it. Who's the hypocrite now Ubi ?

Of course they dropped it man, they sold only: global 1,94m game that dont bring back the development cost+ advertising marketing.

And anyway The PoP 2008 Epilogue is continued with N3ds game....

Those are neither unique nor special elements and will only serve to make it an ac clone which atleast i wouldnt wanna play.

Its one thing adding a touch of realism to the game by say making it more accurate historically. But this is just relentlessly shoving it down people's throats. I see you mentioned that having the same things over and over again would make it repititive, but just forcing concepts which worked for other ones, would it make it worthwhile?

This is just because they know a formula with ac, this doesn't looks like carefully thought out or implementing it because of the need. Oh and thinking they can implement it over to pop and get its sales through the roof would only end up with them looking like a bunch of tools.

But that is innovating as long as their coffers are filled, not the 'innovating by taking risks and catering to the consumer' crap he was spouting. Atleast say what they think, that they don't give a flying **** about the fans.

How about sending a second letter (those who want to) naming our reasons for not wanting a Pop like the one that is rumoured and of course send them more artwork

Clearly You are a realism-freak AC guys. You know what?I dislike the idea as much as I dislike my own dump.
Did not touch a single AC thing after AC1.

They should never give us "Epilogue dlc"

NEW DLC Ending would be better to chose how you finish the game:
    This would be awesome:
Normal ending: Let Elika die and move along "prince" find farah the donkey and forget this litle adventure
Bad ending: Kill tree of life let arhiman free, destroy the world for Elika..

And they should never give us pop2008 game either.
U know, not giving a game is better than not giving an unending series.

Which only loosely relates to the story, doesn't even remotely end it, and also further implies that the story is supposed to continue. Even if there was a DS sequel that ended the story, that would still be a snub.

As for the sales part: for the past few pages, we've discussed nothing but why that is, in layman's terms "a complete load".

I think the whole "fear of fantasy" is sort of the pink elepant in the room; THIS, however, is the normal colored, highly-visible rampaging elephant in the room. The fact that all these arguments don't even remotely work is the very reason why this thread is up to five editions and counting. The entire point of the game was that it was the beginning of a much longer story. They'd need to rework the entire game, not to mention the story and make the whole thing much longer to even come close to making it a stand-alone game.

And they should never give us pop2008 game either.

"And one day you catch yourself wishing that the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain."

A quote from Batman. (Of course it's worth mentioning that the guy saying that followed it up by saying that anger nearly destroyed him and his salvation was revenge. XD Not good for Ubisoft.)

Honestly though, I'd be missing out on so much had it not been for that game, so I'm glad it was made regardless.
