    The HUD Among Other Things

Hello Everyone, I am a HUGE fan of the SC series (the original trilogy) I do not want to go on about gaming and what has happened to the industry and so on, but what I wanted to point out that one issue aside from all the issues/concerns that the SCB demo brought up is the HUD and the game's general UI. If you have not noticed or discussed this already, the HUDis Blue and Red, what ever happened to Green? I mean is there anything about this game that has ANYTHING to do with the SC franchise aside from name(s)???

I wanted to go over other concerns I had when I viewed the demo at the time, but I saw that they have been posted many times (stealth, night, light and darkness, SC feel,SVM, Michael Ironside's VOICE etc) I signed the petition for having Michael Ironside instead of Eric Johnson when it was made, but having viewed the vid with EJ doing the motion capture and VO and MI there + going and watching the e3 demo again got me mad again.

Is there a single game franchise that the current state of the gaming industry has not sucked life out of till it killed it?????

Fist of all welcome to the forums. To me I liked the hud in SCCT as it showed what it needed and was not to much, yet could still be improved on. But in Blacklist I would still like to see the light meter for the what I did in all the other Splinter Cell games. If Blacklist is going to have stealth it should also have the light meter in it.

I personally hate heads-up displays because they break immersion and fill up the screen. I love Double Agent's HUD because it's minimalistic and only shows you what you need to know. Unfortunately the lighting has never been great in SC (you will sometimes be lit up in dark corners and be totally invisible in well lit areas) which makes this kind of design difficult (not to mention you cannot change weapons/equipment with the numerical keys). If you turn the gamma down by 25% it becomes quite realistic; the aforementioned problems still reside but it actually makes you dependent on night vision where it's dark and you can be mostly certain that if you see nothing but the goggles (and that device on Sam's back) that you're completely hidden. Try it, it's fun.

Sorry to break it to ya, but there will be no Light Meter in SCB, the light indicator is the Green Light on Sam/s back, as far as we know it is still binary as it was in SCC, but mixed with Line of Sight stealth, there is alot we still need to know, especially since there is a big focus on AI this time around.

Thanks and I would like to see the noise + light meters back as well.

I think the HUD design we saw in the e3 demo was awful, just awful. It looked like something from a low, low-budget old arcade game (not that I don't like arcades) The excute on the right, your equipment to the left, they are EXTREMELY badly designed. I mean aside from them not being Green, which is very strange, they are very big, there's nothing subtle, stealthy, Splinter Cell about them, then again from that video you can say the same about SCB

The good thing is that Patrick said they are focusing alot on AI, so there is a chance we may see some great AI in SCB.

and yup I changed it, I actually do every now and then, you can totally know me by the Sig ((if you love SCC thread))
