I can't play it on pc either, and i can connect my keyboard and mouse to ps3 just to play better, but its silly. But we still have the singleplayer, and i think they are still people out there who just play by controller and don't turn like they are freaking ghosts, it won't spoil the fun for me anyway i think![]()
Whatever helps you sleep at night. I got banned from all the low ping Battlefield 2 servers because admins thought I was cheating, didn't like to get dumped on, or had stupid rules about people taking THEIR helicopters and tanks. That is why I left PC gaming. Most console games not having user run dedicated servers meant no ****** bag power tripping admins banning you for being skilled. Exclusives, not having to deal with maintenance, not having to spend a ton of money upgrading every couple of years to stay competitive, and actual cheaters - who manipulate game code - made the move to consoles a necessity. Xim made that transition a lot easier.Xim is easily the best mouse and keyboard adapter for consoles if anyone recommends anything else you can just dismiss them.
The thing about these devices is they don't inject code that gives you PC like mouse control. They let you manipulate different parameters of a game's look mechanic - like acceleration, deadzone shape and size. Xim lets you do all that but it also provides you with smart translators with all of those parameters kneaded to best match a PC mouse feel. Not all games have smart translators but most and the more popular ones do.
In the end you're still limited by a game's acceleration, max turn speed, and aim-assist (or if you're playing with a mouse, more aptly, aim-hinder) so it's hard to do really accurate flick shots. Even input lag and frame rate are big deterrents Any one who's beast on PC will tell you that it's harder to do well on consoles versus gamepad players with all of that aim-assist.
A bigger concern to fairness should be whether a game's netcode punishes you for having a better internet connection than your opponent. Which a lot of games are doing nowadays.

Good Post Phil
gameplay experience may change during online play still very relevant in today's world
essentially this post was meant to be about not being able to imagine designing any real quality maps with a PS3 controller the interpretation has become very blurred and drifted away.
I think mouse and keyboard are a better tool to design maps with... Not just for hot keys but it's easier to draw with a mouse... Hopefully the editor will have grid layouts so you can use it to make some quality art not some random controller thrown together mush... Either it will be a proper editor or a toy.... Let's stick with that comment a game for adults... I keep my fingers crossed.
Basic mode and advanced mode I am cool with that too but it needs to be a tool if you want it to be not a toy... But a toy is a good place for some people to start even including myself
Being simple enough so you can knock up a small map in a day but having enough features and detail that you could spend a week or more on developing a competition map like a piece of art.

You know where you are? ... Your in the jungle baby...... Your gonna die.....
A good First-person Shooter should:
- have precise, manual controls - e.g. no auto-aim
- put balance, challenge and fun above realism
- be full of fast-paced real-time action
- let cunning, intelligence and skill decide who wins (PvP)
- have simple mechanics: easy to learn but difficult to master
Since I only use PS3 for map creation - I would find it very difficult to make the transition the other way. I guess you possibly worried about using a controller instead of a keyboard - and to be honest - its like riding a bike,

i will readily admit i am naieve qhen it comes to any previous far cry map editor... I used to do mapping using the source engine which gives you all the same features that developers have in a user friendly interface.... I am not sure if the 2 can be compared on the same scale or features and what is possible... Perhaps i am expecting too much but the source engine is a fantastic tool and gets alot of community support for the titles and mods on that platform.
I do not expect the same level of support but i would like the feature set to be rich enough that you can create and use all entities functions and be able to properly lay out a map symetrically and see it from each axis as it seems that all drawing is done in the render window with no grid. Grids help you seal gaps and help continuity and maintain correct heights for stairs doorways windows ceilings etc and keep scale.
