Lightbulb A way to satfiy your long time fanbase, and increase sales of Rainbow Six Patriots

Let me first start off by saying im a big fan of the rainbow six series. Rainbow Six: 3 was one of the most competitive and social first person shooter I can remember and don’t forget, it stayed on Xbox Live’s top ten for most of its life. Now don’t get me wrong I liked Vegas, but with the third person cover system and the Hollywood- esque single player, it felt like a completely different beast.

You could satisfy both your hardcore fans and increase sales of Rainbow Six: Patriots by producing a HD re-release of Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow with multiplayer (Or the original RS:3).Now how does this increase the sales of Rainbow Six: Patriots you ask? Well you could include it as a limited timed preorder special, or have it part of a collector’s edition of Patriots. For example, you could place a three month time limit on the game, then have it up for sale on the XBLA, and PSN store. I would buy patriots in a heartbeat, just to jump in on the game three months early, and I think a lot of fans would too. Plus it would be a great way of letting retail customers know about your product on the marketplace that wouldn’t otherwise have known. Look at Activision, they included the original Call of Duty with the harden edition of Black Ops, and it seemed to work quite well for them.

Now, I don’t know what kind of rights Microsoft might have with Black Arrow because it was an Xbox excusive, but a lot of fans of the series missed out on an awesome game because they didn’t own an Xbox. Plus it's not even playable online now since they shut down the original Xbox live servers. If Black Arrow is not an option, you could easily just go with Rainbow Six: 3 and get the same response. If anyone has any comments or other ideas on this please post it. I welcome any positive criticism, thanks!

P.S. I also want to include more examples. Metal of Honor: Front lines was included in the limited edition of Metal of Honor. The original Doom 1&2 will be include into the upcoming release of Doom 3 BFG edition. It worked for EA, Activision, and now id Software is doing it too. I believe it would be a great success with UBI Soft. Fans have been clamoring for a HD RS:3 for a very long time (Multiplayer is a must though)

Why do I have an option for another title?

first off I do agree with your post. Second these new forums suck. "Why do I have too verify again to reply to someone????????? "

That is very lame. I loged on and I have to verfiy again for a reply = fail. I have never been on forums before where one has to do this all the time. Change pls or well, enjoy the no post count.

Second, ubisoft does not read these forums. They are fat losers that dont listen to their fanbase and do what they want. I say fine so be it.

Just for the record, this game comes out in 3rd person view.. this game will flop to. It will sell ok on xbox but PC it will really suck.

It worked for Rogue but you have to go into that view by a pressing a key. Dammit these guys are numbskulls. Enjoy your only cashcow....assassins creed.

Well I know UBI soft has had a bad reputation with their community, but the moderators on this forum have been doing a great job responding to our threads lately. I hope at least this idea gets tossed around somewhere in UBi soft, if only for a brief period. It would increase sales, improve relations with hardcore fans, and create a profitable product all at the same time. Seems like a smart move to me, but I have to admit I have no idea what goes into making a HD remake with multiplayer support.

I have said many times in many places that R6 should go back to its routes. Go back to Rogue Spear, tart up the graphics and game play but keep the planning and strategy and release it for the PC and give Patriots to the console users, us PC gamers are fed-up with being given broken leftover console ports that don't work and never get fixed.

I would rather pay for a remade Rogue Spear made for the PC than another broken port from the consoles designed for console players. Keep it 1st person, keep the peek rather than god on acid 3rd person tripout mode and don't bring in the 3rd person cover. good, pure, simple old school Rainbow Six without complicating it into just another bog standard run and gun shooter. Remember what made R6 great and popular in the 1st place and go back to it.

I am sure it was all the messing about and the release of Lockdown and the Vegas games that lost so many fans to MW3 and COD in the 1st place, if you want them back don't try to compete just give them what they want and guaranteed they will come running back.

They either give us a real Rainbow Six game or the remaining fans will go running to Takedown and Ground Branch. Competing with top shooters isn't the issue. Competing is what this is all about after all. You just don't do it by robbing the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon brand of its identify by trying to be like Call of Duty. Its quite obvious that this isn't going to work no matter how hard they try. Its certainly not going to increase sales, as we can see with Future Soldier. As many have said, why should people play a wannabe Halo or Call of Duty when they can just play the real thing? Battlefield 3 didn't sell over 10 million copies out the gates because it was trying to be like other shooters, it did it because it was and still is a Battlefield game at heart, despite the problems with the subsequent updates. This is just basic common sense. I know how great Ghost Recon could have been had Ubi Soft stuck to and improved the original gameplay. It no doubt would have been a poor mans Arma 2, as the style of the original Ghost Recon is quite similar to that of Arma and Operation Flashpoint. If you don't think so, just ask any long time fan of the Arma and Operation Flashpoint franchise, or you can look at Ground Branch as a shining example. The original concept of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon has so much potential to be something special, especially for the console market.

Thank you very much Mush. I know you can't promise anything, but it means a lot that you looked at my post and passed it along. I think this is a brilliant idea that can satisfy fans of the series, and also bring increased sales to UBI soft. It's been done recently with great success ex. Call of Duty & Metal of Honor. I don't see why it wouldn't work for Rainbow Six as well.
