Actually my Strat and Tele are a few notches out of tune pretty much every day. Heck, during the 2 hours I play, I'll hit the 'A' to tune all and will find the B string a couple of points out of tune. I was using the Riff Repeater last night for Jessica and pushing the first bend a full note and that changed the tuning by 2 points (I could hear it and spent the next run through tuning it against the G string ).

I went to adjust the truss rod and found that the tension nut wasn't even threaded on. After some finagling I got it on and tightened up the stock so I didn't have as much space between the strings and the frets. The guitar is playing beautifully now. I could play the saxophone by ear and the piano a little, but I have never been able to figure out notes on the guitar. The guitar sounds different now to the point that I may be able to match notes by ear in the future. The guitar is old, but the strings aren't that old. I will definitely keep in mind not to press too hard on the strings. As for tuning, my guitar stays in tune for weeks unless the weather changes severely. So Thank you all so much for the replies, and thank you to Youtube for having an instructional video on absolutely everything.

It was soooo annoying advancing through levels in the game only to get my phrases leveled down when know my fingers are in the right place. Now I'm flying through levels, and my frustration with the guitar is alleviated.

Please try this. Unplug the cord from your guitar, turn on the game, and at the screen with the guitar/game console diagram, plug in the guitar. It should recognize the correct note after that. Hope that helped.
