Ubisoft "Uplay" DRM Is A Rootkit And Poses Security Risk
Saw this headline today...

As a PC user that uses UPlay, this concerns me GREATLY!
Has Ubisoft come out and said anything about this?
Really tempted to uninstall all Ubisoft's products and cancel my pre-order for AC3, which I would really hate to do!!

Time and Time again companies keep on trying their rootkits , spyware/virus type infesting software and doing silent background installs
All in the name of protection . Yet its proven time and time again DRM only hammers and punish's the legit customers and DOES NOT STOP PIRATING of software.
Instead of spending 1000's , millions on DRM and Anti Pirating shovelware they should be in my view , releasing bug fee , PROPER client-server networking products that is correctly tested before retail and on the PC does not come across as an half baked console sloppy after thought port
We should be asked to install any extra software/addons/plugins/runtime files. Uplay or any other protection program should not just automaticly install addons into IE/Firefox/Chrome without asking first.
Lets have a real look at Uplay stacking and Punkbuster ontop of Steams DRM , has it worked:
No , pirated copy of PC GRFS came out a WEEK before I could legaly play what I pre ordered on steam
No , people are using speed hacks, unlimited sensor ball hacks, unlimited camera hacks, unlimited nade lancher hacks.
No , Networking is a joke, for 3 hours last night I had 2 full rounds with my friends that didnt lose anyone , host mirgration or yeti errors.

Ubisoft rootkit
Well good new is that rootkit work only if you install their uplay plugin into browser and grand it full access to your system (at least in chrome if I remember). Still it's a working backdoor to your computer and Ubisoft installed it for purpose.
Now I know Ubisoft can't be trusted.
