    Hosting etiquette advice please

Tonight I hosted some CTD matches, on account of there being no ther games on offer on PSN. Didn't really know what I was doing. Worked out how to cue up some maps that I'd saved ages ago, mostly daft ones with lots of cars, gliders and the odd ramp... Anyhow, I was surprised how quickly it filled up and despite my broadband reaching my house in the middle of nowhere quite slowly, all seemed to go pretty smoothly. I'm still awful but it was fun. Must do it again!

Anyway, please advise: is there a polite way to draw things to a close? I was knackered and wanted to go to bed! In the end I just quit so sorry if you were rudely kicked off.

I thought maybe I could leave it running as a dedicated server, but the advanced options were greyed out. I guess I could have just left it running with me standing around as a shoot-me-statue, while I slept.

not really, other than if you have EVERYONE you playing with in a chat room and tell them your pulling the plug. It is what it is, we all know theres no host migration and when we join matches that get canceled its nothing new

So, I wouldnt worry too much.

On the PS3 its not possible to change from being the player/host to dedicated server. The best way to finish hosting is after the end of the match - when everyone has returned to the lobby. Then quit out. Players will recognise that the host has quit. If you quit mid match alot of guys will probably think you have kicked them. When you are setting up a match as host, there are Match Options where you can switch voting on/off, change to Hardcore mode, etc. if you want to customise the match duration or the total score required before the match ends - so you can change the number of diamonds required to 2 or 3 if you want to play shorter matches.

When I host I usually quit right after I return to the lobby from a match. But I'm a little weird about it. I try to do it before anybody else from the previous match joins the lobby. I guess inpart I do it to avoid feeling bad for closing the lobby.

As players are filling in to the next lobby is the best time, And most regular players will guess that you've shut down. Or crashed out as the ps ubi server is pretty old now
