Thread: Week 25 challenge "Jessica" (Combo) by The Allman Brothers Band | Forums

I just got that XBL game Deadlight and want to try that, but I gotta plop my fingers all over this guitar first. I landed about 100 more points, last night, but I'm not changing my score until I get a significant upgrade.

Free speed, I've discovered is probably the worst tool invention ever. I think it hinders any progress more than it helps. Just putting a finger on a note and playing it out of context of the melody is just completely bass ackwards. Don't think I will ever use it again.

Yeah, I cannot use Free Speed, some folks seem to like it, however. It took me a long time to figure out Accelerator. I just miss notes on purpose during the "set speed" run, at the beginning, until I get to the speed I want. Then I just have to remember to miss some notes on purpose, to keep it at that speed. There is supposed to be a manual speed setting, on the way, hopefully this next patch.
I heard they's a man there pays folks money to sing into a can.

Spent a little more time this morning trying to level the solos, updated my score, probably won't have time to try again. To boost my ego, I played Black Chord arrangement and got 100% accuracy! I rock!

Been working in Riff Repeater all week so no new score at this time. I've been reading the Buddy Guy autobiography and one of the things he said he did as a kid stuck with me. He had one of the older blues guys teach him how to play a song and he played it all evening including walking outside and into the fields to make sure he knew the song. I'm doing the same thing with Jessica. Using Riff Repeater to learn each piece then stepping away and playing it even more without Rocksmith in order to make sure I learn it.

I'm actually having some motivation issues this week knowing that the thing I originally shelved this song for (speed control) is coming in two weeks. Like I'm happily learning the slower parts of the song, but big sigh when it gets fast. I almost wish we could put this week on pause until that comes out >.>.

I know, random, but as a head's up, I'll prolly necro this thread sometime after the challenge with a "real" score and hopefully a video. I've wanted to really learn this song since I first picked up guitar, and with a proper accelerator that dream may come true.

Oh well, back to flailing for this week for me :/

Agreed. The solo is ridiculous. I can not master the 5th part no matter what I do. I tried accelerator and can play it at about 80% but anything above that is just too fast. I think you almost have to just memorize it. The notes on screen are too quick for my brain to process. I practiced that one part for almost 2 hours and when I played the whole song I did worse than ever.

The worse than ever thing rings a bell. After all night in RR, I dropped my score by 5K. ...sigh...

I can almost play the solos at 75% speed. LOL!

Score is in. Solo 5 is hard to level up indeed.

Ok, so things didn't work out... I didn't get a chance to play tonight... So my original score is going to have to stick as my best score for the week. I also included a screenshot of one of my other runs which was at 95%.

I am hopeful that we see more Div 1 folks come in, and that sometime between now and Sunday we see some big scores drop, but I won't actually have an opportunity to improve on my 130k since I am heading to Hood River until Sunday night.

So... Hopefully someone crushes my score, but if not, I will be back late Sunday night, so if by some random chance nobody does beat my score I will definitely be around to choose the song of the week. Since I've never had that honor, I assume history will repeat itself, and someone will jump in and beat my score

Updated my score. Assuming my familiar postion, a few thousand points behind bcolwell.

Getting better, but I might not get to practice much more this weekend. Heading out of town with the family after work tonight.
