You're completely missing the point - the NHS bit was NOT the entire opening!!! There were plenty more, much better, far more internationally recognisable segments to the ceremony.

Yep, but it depends, as I said, this reaction is almost world wide........ The whole act itself was not very dynamic, mostly if you witnessed Beijing opening..... The bar was up to the skies, the chinese did a GREAT job!!!!

I never debated that Beijing was good. However, over here people can (and would) complain if the government blew that kinda money (some are as it is). I'm not saying that one's better then the other. Only that given everything, they've done excellently. Plus if you think the opening segment wasn't dynamic, you should've been there. And then there's this:

Quality ain't measured by flashiness. If it was, Michael Bay would be winning Oscars every year.

If the rest of the world can't get past that one segment, then the rest of the world's an idiot. And I doubt that's truely the case for everyone.

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal opinion and on that, we have to agree to disagree.

I could care less about the Olympics myself, regardless of where they're being held. Only television I watch is History and maybe Discovery Channels.

My mother loved watching the Queen's diamond jubilee though.
