Steam and Explorer.exe Hanging on Game Exit | Forums

Hi All,

I have this issue intermittently with my CoD - after playing for some time and exiting the game to return to windows I am presented with a white screen outline of Steam and an unresponsive PC. Have tried killing various processes to no avail.

My machine:i7-2600 Quad Core (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache)
ASUS® MAXIMUS IV EXTREME-Z: INTEL Z68 ROG MOTHERBOARD
16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (4 x 4GB
KIT)
2GB AMD RADEON™ HD6950 - 2 DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11
120GB INTEL® 320 SERIES SSD, SATA 3 Gb/s

Any ideas?

If you don't use Steam Community while in game, try running with the Steam Community turned off. You set it from the game properties in Steam Library.
If that doesn't stop it, the actual game .exe shows in task manager as launcher.exe, try killing that one if it's still running when the system hangs.

Thanks for the idea. I tried disabling the steam community thing and played for a while and it still happened. Interestingly if I go into the game very briefly and fly, it exits successfully.

Launcher isn't running sadly This is really annoying as it has stopped me playing a Sim I have spent good money on.

You didn't say whether you were in singleplay mode but if you were then this is a known bug with CLOD and not Steam.
Hopefully they're gonna fix this with the new patch which was supposed to be released last Monday but still hasn't.....
Monday means 'Two weeks, be sure'.
