    possible expansion ideas

When it comes to far cry 3... I am unsure how Jason Brody's story will end.... The one thing that seems to be a major continuity to far cry 3 is the islands but also the factions that populate them.

I want to learn about the different environments and places that the game will contain one idea i had a while back was an oil rig but the main hurdle to this for plausibility was who put it there and why was the island not on the map...

I then heard of a true story of an oil rig that got lost at sea due to bad weather conditions and numerous other problems prevented the people responsible for towing this 3000 ton rig from losing it alltogether. The oil rig later washed up and breeched itself upon a coral reef on the island of tristan de cudnah one of the most isolated places on the planet. Eventually a salvage and rescue operation was conducted and the rig wss liberated from where it was stuck on the island.

I thought using this true stoty that inspired me to write this on these forums for obvious reasons thinking of how surreal it would be to see this mysterious rig wash up upon the shores of an island like in far cry 3 and this new territory would become high retail estate for anyone wishing to dominate the waters and coatal peninsular.... Not sure if this should be jason brodys story either but after hearing the true story and thinking of the consequences and how it could change island life i felt it had merits.

Not only did i think about the factions that would fight for this outpost surrounded by water but also perhaps at a later point who would come looking to reclaim their expensive 3000 ton asset that they would obviously want back.... If this would be military operation to reclaim the rig... The opportunity to bring the Osprey helicopter back to the series amongst a new very well equipped military faction also.

I understand farcry 3 is a non military shooter but i think it could cause some interesting plot and alike and be able to bring somthing fresh.

More infomation can be found here about this strange occurance

Just ideas and thanks for reading.

What ideas or possible ways could you see as avenues for expansion of single player missions

You know where you are? ... Your in the jungle baby...... Your gonna die.....

    A good First-person Shooter should:

    - have precise, manual controls - e.g. no auto-aim
    - put balance, challenge and fun above realism
    - be full of fast-paced real-time action
    - let cunning, intelligence and skill decide who wins (PvP)
    - have simple mechanics: easy to learn but difficult to master

Very good idea! Love the oil rig concept. The thing I look forward toward the most is caves! This gives you plenty of time to explore and go and find them all around the islands. I would love to find a underwater cave that can only be accessed through 2 ways:through the water and through a house. I'll explain later.

The idea is that you go swimming down the sea and you see a dark area, you're curious so you keep going towards it. Soon you find yourself on top of a rock and in a huge cave scattered around by stalagmite and stalactites along with some rocks that seem to be evergrowing crystals on them. After wandering through for a few minutes, you find a ladder, as usual you start to climb it. After a few seconds you stop due to a wooden type of plate that's on your way. You push it and it suddenly opens, as if a small doorway. You climb up, and you find yourself in a small shack filled with dead bodies scattered everywhere and blood on the walls, windows, and beds! This is true nightmare...

This is sort of the caves I would like to find, It didn't go with your post in what environments I would like to see but it fits in there somehow. One certain environment I would like is a few sunken ships in the bottom of the sea. Kind of like Titanic where you can find all types of treasures hidden in there.

Please continue this thread, it is very intriguing and I would love to read all your posts.

yeah reakky love caves always try to visit sone of significance each year.....

You will be glad to know

underwater caves are confirmed - i remember Dan hay specifically say the word cenote which is a fredhwater cave that leads out to sea

wrecks are confirmed - there is one when you see the shark in dr.earheart trsiler

like your idea and would be a nice touch if the house you speak of was made within a lava flow.... check this spanish dude artist out ceasar manrique he hss done some amszing architecture within lava flows his house is unique especislly.

Also i keep thinking of rice paddy fields for a good environment too to mix things up

I can't wait for Far Cry 3 then. Can't wait to just go anywhere where the road takes you. I'm especially happy that they announced the underwater caves. Thanks for the notice!

    Awesome!

I think the scuba diving idea is actually pretty awesome! Imagine what you'll be able to do underwater! I was wondering if you'll be able to spear fish? Seeing as you'll have to eat something, know what I'm saying?
