Im thinking of buying a new joystick because my current one is ... bad, its a saitek ST110.

Im thinking of buying a USB Sidewinder but before i do whats the best for il2 and and is a usb connection

I have the sidewinder -- its pretty nice and its a USB.

The best joystick is the one that feels good to you, has all the features you require and is USB. Some to consider are

Thrustmaster Afterburner Topgun II (also comes in FFB version)
MS Precision/Precision Pro/FFB series.
Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold
Saitek X45
CH Flight Stick Pro/Fighter Stick with or without CH Pro Throttle and CH Pro Pedals USB.
Thrusmaster Cougar.

I have had a Logitech wingman Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick for about 4 months now and out of the joysticks that I have had ( trustmaster - logitech standard -and sidewinder ) This is by far the best so take a look at it .

I would agree that the stick is a personal preferance. As far as I'm concerned the more buttons for this game the better. I bought the Wingman Extreem stick. The best thing I've ever bought is the Nostromo game pad. It gives you 10 buttons,(21 if you program in the shift buttons) a slider & hat switch for your left hand. It took a little practice using it but I love the idea of putting the keyboard out of the way.

Have a Thrustmaster Afterburner II, (non FFB)
I like it very much, wish there were more buttons.

Anybody know of any kind of program that allows a "shift" function to be assigned to the joystick?
