So the forum software provider is to blame?
Did Ubisoft buy themselves a pig in a poke?

    @ denis4510,
You stated that your clan runs this same forum software. Are you having the same issue?

No we are not - we use this - I have only deleted one in the 6 months we have been running this.

which is an add on to vBulletin® which I believe this Ubi software is too - only it doesn't say so - but they look alike in all respects.

That looks like a nice mod for the forums there denis.
I wonder if the Ubi boys in the ivory tower will be able to find and implement it.

Well, it's not as if UBI hasn't had a long history of hooking up with software companies that promised to save their games from piracy. None of these programs, whether Starforce or SecuROM did a darned thing to protect UBI's copyrights, but instead punished us who honestly paid to be abused while the pirates stripped the crapware and traded unencumbered copies of UBI's property for free. And what was that abomination that killed SH5? I didn't bother and won't bother to buy that thing, even after most of the DRM is gone.

No, UBI has a long and distinguished history of falling for protection rackets that do nothing of the kind. They are as much a victim of those gangsters as we are and UBI has my sympathy because they paid millions to be fleeced.

The Captcha thing is just more of the same. Insanity: doing the same thing that failed disastrously last time and expecting a different result. Sure is discouraging to see UBI on the sharp and pointy end of two packs of dogs, one trying to steal their property and the other siphoning money while doing nothing to protect UBI. I count the protection racket as even more evil than the thieves.

Well, I'll stick around here as long as it's going, but am also a member over at Subsim. I know I don't have the time or expertise to put together or run a forum, but if someone does, maybe we could start up our own SH4 forum using Delphi or something like it and dump Ubi.

No problems - it works well. BTW our site (http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef4/forum.php) was put together by a gamer - it is our 4th version - he is an IT person but not a programmer. It contains things like a calender for each team for scheduled matches etc which is not needed here but the software is rather good.
