Chessmaster 12?
Will there be a new version of chessmaster, 2012 or 12th? And where can I order the 11th?

Unfortunately, there has been no information regarding a new version of Chesmmaster.
I'm not sure why, but I haven't seen Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition in stores for quite some time. However, you can order it from http://www.amazon.com.

I haven't seen CM/GME in a store for several years. I'm not precisely sure why either, but I suspect it may very well be a result of the packaging. Since the game pre-dates Windows 7, and I doubt the retail box has been updated, potential buyers looking at the sys requirements might just assume that it doesn't run on Windows 7, since that O/S does not appear.
Regardless, I have a cautionary warning about Amazon. I've checked pricing for CM/GME periodically over the past year or so and it VARIES WIDELY. Currently, the price is high, IMO, at $59.95 USD. I have seen a LOW price of under $20 while the (sort of) de facto price has been $29.95 USD.
I, of course, bought the program when it was first released, but I don't think I'd be willing to pay $59.95 USD for the program today. $29.95, on the other hand, is what I would consider reasonable and, actually, a pretty good price. In sum, if I were in the market to buy CM Grandmaster, I think I'd just keep checking Amazon regularly and buy (if?) when the price drops back closer to ~$30.

I've noticed the price fluctuations on Amazon.com as well; but, if you want it today, you'll have to pay $59.95 USD (which is only $10 higher than the suggested retail price when Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition was first released).
As to why it disappeared from store shelves, it's possible that old packaging is the reason, but I doubt it. Really, I have no clue why.

I i were a chess programmer and knew my software will be freely shared, I would not be in a hurry to make a new one.

Chessmaster is not freeware... those who share it (as well as those who get it) without paying are breaking the law.
However, I doubt if that is the reason why Ubisoft is not releasing a new version of Chessmaster. More likely is economics... fthe market for first-person shooter titles has more custoemers, making it more lucrative to release new versions of those titles.
And with that, this thread is now closed.
