I have just sent you a PM. I suggest you stop posting and take a look at it. Discussing account activity and actions on the Forums is not allowed and this is completely off-topic.

I know I'm not exactly known for being "nice" or "friendly" on the forum, but at least I'm not stupid enough to insult the mods. Why don't you all just ban this person in question and be done with it. Honestly. He has insulted you, is that not against the rules?...
God, what I'd give for cussing to be allowed on this site. I don't believe you all even know a bit about how "mean" I can be. Sme things I want to say, but I just can't. Like the person that got banned and is now complaining about it?... Ohhhh god. How I'd love to say what I want to say.

    Stop complaining. That's the basis.

Please please PLEASE can we stay on topic guys?!
Right now we're getting further and further away from the point of this topic which was the bullying in our community and the ways that we as a community can help to prevent it.
I don't want this thread locked because of people disputing bans and using language which we all KNOW we're not supposed to use on the forums etc.

I agree with obliviondoll that the auto-mute function as suggested in the Extra Credits video would be exploited by the bullies, despite it being a good idea. What they do mention though, is that PEER PRESSURE is a good way to help stamp out the bullies. If you've got a group of friends in Manhunt for example and there's this one random spewing out hate whatever comes his way, then stand up as a group and tell that random that what he's doing ISN'T cool and that bullies aren't accepted in our community... Hell, with the way things are at the moment, don't just say the AC:MP community, say the gaming community as a WHOLE.

New videos... well, not new, but newly added. Nice.

Good info, too. There's some repetition between the two videos, but they both make good points.

You know I recently saw a clip of the video between a SF4AE trainer and some girl he has been training at a tourney, the video got alot of buzz for him being a women hater or something along those lines a few months ago because of his comments, and the thing was from what I saw, it seemed perfectly friendly to me.

Yeah he said he "wanted to smell her" or something stupid along those lines, but he was laughing, she was laughing, and every five seconds he got right back to the point of "Train, train, if you lose you train, if you win with less then so much health you train", It honestly seemed like it was more of an inside joke to them then him just deciding he hates her or whatever. Fast forward a bit all of a sudden she's crying while being interviewed because that video was so traumatizing because he said that he wanted to smell her.

While in the video they were both laughing.
And I think I remember her saying almost the exact same thing to him about smelling him.

If she felt so strongly against his comments she could have gone "Seriously if you keep on talking to me like that I'm out", instead she was laughing and joking with him until the droves of people defending her came.

Not saying everyone is like this, but it really seemed like sometimes the "Victim" is just looking for five minutes of fame.

Also another clip I saw was at a SFxT tourney where the interviewer was talking with a girl who obviously had no reason to be there (she and her friend had NO IDEA how to play, they didn't know any of the characters names, I honestly wouldn't doubt if they were on drugs on the time because of the way they acted towards the players), while the bottom half of the screen was her friend and some guy playing, he ended up perfecting against her like every game and going all out on her like it was someone who knew how to play.

She ends up screaming about how he's just an "angry little man" or something and how he's probably going to feel like **** "fapping" by himself along with everyone at the tourney because they're all just loser virgins because he wouldn't let her win. If anything that seems like an example of someone who had NO REASON to be there, other then to try to grab attention. And not one peep came out about how she or her friend hate men, while if the situation was reversed I have no doubt in my mind the guy would instantly be stoned to death by a crowd of angry white knights.

They were being filmed for a TV show when her team leader starts acting all creepy on camera. Basically he was supposed to be her superior, like her boss, during this show, on national TV, surrounded by a bunch of other socially awkward guys laughing along with their boss. How the heck else are you supposed to react except laughing awkwardly and hoping he's going to stop and go away as long as you don't make a fuss? She only laughed and tried to shrug it off at the beginning, but when he kept doing things like that over and over again, she finally got fed up and walked away. She wanted to quit the show the first week but was obligated by her contract to stay for at least a certain amount of days.

Regardless of how you feel about her reaction, you can't seriously be saying his behavior was totally normal and acceptable. He was supposed to be a team leader, the one encouraging and coaching everyone. He smelled her, made constant jokes about "show us your boobs" and tried to feel her up whenever he got the chance. He was a disgusting, sexist a-hole no matter which way you look at it.

If SixKeys is right about the incident you're referring to, AwkwardlyBruta, I've seen the footage, and the girl wasn't "laughing along" so much as "struggling to cover her shock" in response to what the guy said. She looked, sounded and acted like she couldn't believe anyone was letting it continue, and in some of the clips I've seen from it, she DID ask him to stop, and to tone things down, but he didn't ease up at all, and pushed harder when she tried to force the issue.

But lets take a look at the conclusion you drew from this, because it's actually quite good:

I've written a blog post on exactly this issue, based on several incidents which WERE the way you seem to have interpreted this event.

A lesser-known female journalist - NOT someone who promotes herself by her gender, just one of the random names you'll sometimes see above a review - was at an event, and was meant to be previewing a new FPS that was coming out. She sat down at the computer, and a very helpful-sounding guy who worked at the booth came over, said "are you sure you know what you're doing?" as if he expected a girl not to understand shooter games. For some people, that seems like a logical conclusion, but this particular girl didn't expect it, and just sat there, shocked, while he shifted her away from the keyboard and mouse, and showed her the basics of how shooters work. She already KNEW these things, but at the time, she didn't speak up, and just sat there letting him act like she didn't know what she was doing.

Instead of the preview she'd been sent to do (which she couldn't do now because she never got to see any of the real action or get a feel for the game herself), she decided to play up her "victim" status and write an article about how "cruel" it was for a guy to "rip the mouse from her hands" and take over when she was sitting there looking lost in front of the computer.

Around the same time, there had been several stories, not just in gaming, but other areas, where people had pulled similar "look at me, I'm being mistreated" stories out of their own fantasy world to explain why their failure to respond to a stupid comment was someone else's fault.

If someone makes a wrong assumption, and you take no steps to correct their mistake, you're just as guilty as they are when the same thing happens to someone else.

I didn't see the "show us your boobs" part or her trying to feel her up, I guess the clip I saw didn't have that.

But again If someone was doing something that was making me feel uncomfortable, even if I was on TV, I'd say strait up to quit it, If it was a nationally broadcasted event they obviously would've had producers or something along those lines who you could've talked to.

Saying something like this is pretty much the opposite of the "Every girl on the internet is a ****", It's a sweeping generalization of men over the internet (or in this case the fighting game community), I don't see how you can be supporting one side while still making broad generalization of men, women or any flavor in between.

AwkwardlyBrutal, you're talking about the lovely Cross Assault incident which has been one of the major incidents about sexual harassment within the video gaming community lately.
It was an incident that was covered in some of the videos I posted a couple of pages back, and quite frankly I believe that Aris Bakhtanians was WAY out of line with what he said to Miranda Pakozdi. I think it also should be noted that it wasn't until his second public apology that he actually acknowledged Pakozdi.
As OD said, in the footage, Pakozdi may be laughing, but it's to cover her shock and if you watch it closely enough you can see that she is VISIBLY uncomfortable with the things that Bakhtanians is saying to her.
Pakozdi couldn't ACTUALLY back out of the competition because of Bakhatanians because of her contractual obligations. In the end she committed video gaming suicide to get out of the competition by actively moving her character towards her opponent's one and not doing anything to counter his attacks.

And she did talk to the producers, and the show was cancelled, and the leader of her team got on the internet to b***h about how she ruined their show by getting offended about being sexually harassed. It's a d@mned if you do, d@mned if you don't situation. If she had just let the situation continue, people would have said: "Well, if you hated it so much, why didn't you speak up?" and when she did speak up, she got told: "You should have just sat there and let it slide".

I wasn't generalizing all men, I said "a bunch of socially awkward guys". If you see sexual harassment happening right next to you and you just laugh at the victim and do nothing to stop it, you are a socially awkward person.
