How do I disable uplay to play offline?

Uplay has updated itself without my permission, and now is asking for my AC:B registration key. How do I stop this? I already entered my key when i installed the **** game the first time. I used to be able to click on the Brotherhood Icon, click on offline mode, and play my game. Why are you forcing me to log in to play the game?

    Hi There,

If you are using Steam - please launch the game via Steam - and not via a shortcut made previously.

If you are using steam and like using a shortcut - you will need to make a new one via steam.

If you don't use Steam - and used a CD to install the game, please contact Ubisoft Support who will be able to help you further.

Links to support are in my signature.

I apologise, torrenting cracked games is indeed illegal and I will refrain from advising such in future.

I will advise (this is perfectly legal) to avoid Ubisoft games in future. If they won't give us any rights with our licences then we shouldn't give them any money.

EDIT: IS it actually illegal to download a game you already own? =s

    In some countries it is..

It's not the downloading of the game - but the crack to bypass any and all security of that software that is the main issue for others.

example - torrent sites which contain such 'data' are now blocked in the UK by court order / law.

Either way - posting such advice on a game companies forum - is a breach of the forum rules.

I suggest you refrain from suggesting it in the future.

Well, I don't use Steam, I've never had anything but bad experiences. Experiences a lot like this one, actually. Makes me want to go back to buying console games.

I don't actually have a CD either, I got AC:B as a free digital copy when I bought a Zotac Video Card. The Installer put an icon on the desktop. I've never had to log into anything before to play my game. Now, whether I use the Icon the installer created, <OR> if I create a shortcut to ACBSP.exe myself, Uplay pops up and demands a login.

What If I'm not connected to the internet to log in? What if I just don't want to log in? And just to be clear; W.T.F. do I do to get rid of uplay altogether so I never have to see it again? I don't care if I miss out on "free" stuff and all the advertising that goes along with it. I really don't care about losing minor game functions like the Rome Economy of AC:B. I really really really just want to play my single player game in peace and quiet on my PC, without any other Ubisoft presence or influence over my hardware. You have no right to require me to log in to play offline. Sony might get away with those bullfeathers on their licensed hardware, but this is *MY* PC. I will use it as I see fit, and Ubisoft's and anyone else's software is here by my express permission only, not the other way around.

El.Scorcho, if you have logged in once, you can get the Uplay PC client to always start in offline mode by going to the Settings (bottom right of the login screen or left of your username in the menu bar) and tick the "Always start Uplay in Offline Mode" box.

Yes, it says offline mode, but that just hides you from your friends. I still have to put in my log in and password in order to open Uplay, even if I am playing in offline mode... Which means ubisoft is collecting that information.

Uplay was not previously even required to be open in order to play. It installed itself like a virus when ACB auto-updated the last time I tired to play it. It demands a log in before it gives me access to my game. It has asked me for the registration key, which I gave when I installed the game the first time, and should already be associated with my ubisoft account.

I want to go back to the method described in this link I got from their support page:

I hate uplay and being forced to accept it. I never wanted it in the first place. Anything less is unacceptable, period. Ubisoft is making pirates out of paying customers with this kind of treatment.

I really am pissed of about this whole forced online login b.s. typical of game developers to be inconsiderate of 3rd world countries. i started playng the AC games from the begining after having been introduced to it late. Bought all four games and now im on AC2, **** Uplay thing is irritating coz the internet connection here is usually very volitile when ther is any at all. Is there a way to bypass Uplay and play MY GAME offline ON MY PC?

P.S. I bought the game from a friend who had been seating on it for a bit over a year coz they ddnt hav internet connection.>>> Ther aint even a notification on the cover that it requires connection

You can launch Uplay in offline mode as already stated by Korchaa, http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/answ...ail/a_id/16659
