Thread: Hot Fix for online. | Forums

Alright, I am getting desperate now so I'll ask you how I would do this with my setup. I am in a rare scenario here so its a bit different.

I have my network setup as follows:

Main router is a DSL modem with wireless router built in. I have a wireless ClientBridge/Repeater setup in the middle that connects to the dsl modem wirelessly and outputs its own wireless signal witch I then receive on my PC.

How exactly would you resolve the issue with connectivity on that setup?

Easy way: Run an ethernet wire from your router to your desktop(Wireless never has a great speed with online gaming, only tolerable at times IF the game is PC originated and NOT a port)
Hard way: If your repeater has a built in firewall(As some may) you are going to have to disable it. Either way it is like a router going through a router(Used for range extension) to a PC. You will need to google how with the model number of your repeater if that would even have one(Hit and miss depending on brand and quality). You are indeed in a strange situation. Best bet is hard wire via a long rj45(that is a CAT-6 or Ethernet) cord.
[EDIT]: You can also try this tutorial: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge

Wouldn't be using a repeater if hardwiring was an option. However I have never had ping issues in other games(only get a slight raise in ping using this configuration).

I have already disabled firewall on bridge and enabled DMZ from main router to bridge, and bridge to pc just to test. Still only get into about 10% of matches.

[EDIT] Did you open UPnP on bridge?

I find it sad how a customer is doing more work than the actual developers. At least that is how is seems as of right now. Good job man

I think it is that they are trying hard, but in a different direction. In other words, they are probably re-coding the way multiplayer works via connection wise considering the direct port. I do, however, think that this should have been addressed much sooner, but hey, at least I found out what the fix connection wise was. Strict or even Moderate NAT will not do for this certain game, needs to be open. Now if they could fix the infinite loading screen in multiplayer. That gets really old.

I honestly doubt at this point they are doing that much work for us here.

UPNP enabled on bridge, still no dice.

My advice would be simple, call your ISP and don't talk to the level one techs, they don't know very much about this. Ask to talk to a higher up tech, sounds like they need to open you up from their side of things. This is a rarity, but still happens. This will also help you with ALL online gaming, not just GR:FS

Finally got multiplayer it working for me and my friend at least....

    In uPlay there is now a Use proxy setting... i.e. in setting for uPlay called;
Allow Uplay to use a proxy connection to access the internet ----- which in ON by default

Turning this of OFF i.e UNCHECK it and restart Uplay, both my and my friends computers made us see each other as ONLINE in GRFS... and thus start a multiplayer game.

Hope it helps at least ONE more person, then I am ahead of UBISOFT...

Sonny, thats impossible to do this because here are about one thousend IT workers on the way to put Ubisoft workers into jail, I cannot do this because it is on Ubisoft to tell the Buddys what they wanna do with our accounts , it is all registered Hardware im on with ..... The Gameindustry have to pay some bills, because they had betraying several people in the past , ..... lets watch the next two years and you will see Gameindustry is no more common like a virus. I got a contract and it is on Ubisoft to do PC - Work .... It is common that these machines are five as good as a console .....
