    Better include quicksave

I am hoping they include something other than check-point save in this incredible game. I fully intend to purchase farcry 3 at full retail for my PC if I can save at any time. Getting really tired of performing extensive stealth strategy only to have to have it fail and reload me back to a distant save point. The game looks amazing and it would be a travesty to go 'console on us'!

The game did have checkpoints, but the developers took them out. Do not know why you would take something out that made the game playable (not being able to have to rage quit).

They did confirm that there will be checkpoints in Farcry 3. I think they said that.

Far Cry 3 will feature auto-save. I loved quick-save from far cry 2.

On PS3 you can save at any time in FC2 (dunno if this is different on PC)

Thing is with auto-save theres the risk of getting into a spawn trap. Someone posted on the FC2 forum that they did a convoy mission, blew up the target to complete the mission (the save option came up on screen since the mission was complete) , saved and straight after that got killed from something flying off the explosion. So every time they started again, the same thing happened - no other save files so had to restart the campaign from scratch.

I just always have about 3 or 4 different saves - starting from the beginning of each mission in case of a fail - but I know what you mean - you have to cover some long distances and I imagine it will be the same in FC3 - so a fail could mean another 20 minutes just getting back to where you are.

If theres autosave - I'd need the manual save as well to back up my progress in the campaign.

GUN_SABOTOR. thats exactly what happened to me, i was doing a convoy mission and i blew up the car. I saved and instantly! i was rammed by another car. It took me ages to get back to the same percentage. ( most frustrating thing because previously my just cause 2 file got corrupt somehow and then this happened!)

I hope they allow quick-save to happen and auto-save. All this spawn trapped thing could really bring down some players. Reminds me of Fallout:New Vegas when it auto-saves by itself AND you can quick-save it whenever you want, I think.

Auto-save doesn't always work better - in Skyrim I got stuck in the map between a house and a fence - it auto-saved so quitting out and reloading it took me back to being stuck in the map between a house and a fence. The only option was to reload from a previous manual save file (which I had a made over an hour before that) - so its not really a benefit - best to have both.

Developers should allow at least the auto-save system to be flexible having the last 5 of them. Personally i prefer the quick-save approach from far cry 2
