    SSC crashes upon launching

I got SSC recently through Steam. I installed and patched it. Now whenever I launch the game by clicking play, it'll try to launch the game. But after a second it shows me 'conviction_game.exe' has stopped working. My graphics card is up to date and so is Windows. I've read through some threads, but couldn't find my problem. So I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

Hello Haowk... because you're using Steam (and I know absolutely nothing about Steam) I am a little hesitant to try and offer any assistance... but I'll try anyway. You provided in your post your Video Card specs but not your PC specs (to rule in/out compatibility), so for the sake of argument, we will assume that all your hardware conforms with the Minimum Requirements for Splinter Cell: Conviction. I am not a big proponent of recommending "tweaks/quick-fixes" (but if they work... why the heck not)... try looking to this post #1 by KingDaniel0 and see if this helps. Another suggestion is to try posting your problem/issue in the Steam Forum as this could be a Steam related issue (I'm not really sure). Lastly, try contacting Ubisoft Support. Good luck.

I've tried KindDaniel0's fixes, but unfortunately they didn't work out for me. I also posted my pc specs, that would be the last link to a screenshot that shows them. I can run the game easily on recommended settings. And I shall try the Steam Forum. I've already contacted Ubisoft Support, but still no reply. So I was hoping I'd find a solution here. But hey thanks for the help!

I have the same problem. I launch the game from the Steam client... sometimes it loads up and plays, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, which is about 50% of the time, it crashes and says "game.exe not working" and sometimes it ends and loads out to the "Saved Game Stats" screen on the U-play client (at least I think that's what it says). Either way it's been a buggy mess that sometimes works but usually doesn't. Lot's of others have the same issue and from what I have seen, some think that changing the data in one of the .ini files so that it detects the correct screen resolution is a workaround. I tried that and several other things and it doesn't seem to do much.

Hello admiralc100... sometimes this occurs when you have Steam/Splinter Cell Conviction installed on a drive other than your Boot Drive C (assuming for the sake of argument that you have Splinter Cell Conviction installed on a drive other than your boot drive)... the quickfix is to uninstall the Splinter Cell Conviction game and reinstall it on your Boot Drive C. If this does not help... I would suggest contacting Ubisoft Support for assistance/help. Good luck.

Hmm, okay, I'll try that. Thanks. I will post back if I have any success.

Okay, didn't work. Tired of the crashes, in fact sick of them. I think I will contact their tech support and see if that gets me anywhere. No matter what I do the game just hangs and tells me the conviction.exe stopped working. Very frustrating. It's now doing it everytime I try to load the game.
