Splinter Cell Corrupts Game Saves
I just pick up conviction and so far had a blast playing through the first couple of stages in the game. Though the game seems to stop saving halfway through the second stage. Whenever I start up Uplay, it tells me that there was a mismatch in my game saves and with no way to check which one I want to save, prompts me to delete one or the other. This has happened to me twice now out of the last two times I tried to play the game and I have tried both options but both send me right back to the halfway point on the second stage.
As badly as I want to play this right now, i know i'm going to end up losing all that time again if i play it. Is there someway to ensure this doesn't happen?

yep.
i got the exactly same problem. Had played more than half of game and then it returned my missions to second stage. And tried both ways to that "yes" no" question

Oh good, so it wasn't just me. I just got a mismatch message, it asks me which to keep and gives NO indication of which is even the more recent file. Having had some connectivity issues lately I just had to guess that the local file was the newer one. Apparently not, because it sent me back to the airfield. I quit the game and started again and got the same mismatch prompt. Okay, great, I can salvage this, it must not have deleted the file.
I accepted the server file, and now I'm back at the market.
I thought the ridiculous broken controller buttons bug would be the top issue for this, but wow was I wrong. uPlay proves itself WORSE than Origin somehow.

Gara, FiNzz, good news I just found, you MIGHT be able to restore the game. I found mine in a history folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\2036f809-b21e-4ef3-aa3d-4dcdbb6096ba\2\History for me, should be similar enough for both of you. I found a file from last night (last time I played) labelled 4.save.deleted and 4.save.metadata.deleted . Copy that file or your equivalent, rename them to 1.save/.metadata, copy AGAIN for good measure, then drop them over the files in the folder one up ("2"). Go to uPlay settings, DISABLE cloud support, then try starting the game again. It worked for me, should work for you. I'll try copying my files and restoring cloud support, but I'll **** well keep a rolling backup from now on.

From what i've read this is a pretty common problem.
Thanks for the help, I also stumbled onto a fix. After hitting both yes and no to the mismatch prompt I was sure that my original game was gone. Somehow, after trying a couple of times to catch up to where i left off my original game came back.
While it has still dumped me in the middle of the second mission a few times, i find that if i back out and reload the game a few times i'll eventually get my original game back. Though i'll admit every time it feels like i'm playing russian roulette with my game saves.
Hopefully this rather ridiculous bug will be fixed soon.

Yeah, I installed in Steam the Russian language version of the game and I do the same thing happened. The same happens with Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands!
