Rocksmith - problems with Offspring add-on pack
I have LOVED playing Rocksmith ... as a bass player, it has allowed me to fulfill - okay begin to fulfill - my dreams of being a lead guitarist. :roll eyes:
Anyway, standing currently at over 50% complete with level 10 ("Super Elite Guitarist"), I have been purchasing the add-on packs about as fast as they are coming out. However, I have been REALLY frustrated today, since "Gone Away" (by The Offspring) is currently in my "event" song list ... and the game REFUSES to register my successful performances of the "Post Chorus" section (by far, the easiest part of the song, by the way). It consists of double-stops (two notes at a time) , however, and the game simply does not register these as correct ... no matter how accurately timed I play the notes. I have rebooted the system, attempted to adjust the lag time (but , based on the blinking light,it appears fine in its default 50 ms state), and everything else I can think of, but nothing works!!
HELP!! I cannot move forward until I successfully complete this song ... and - with the Post Chorus section (same problem with the "Outro," by the way) at around 40% (because I cannot improve the mastery as explained above) - I am unable to even get close to the 68,800 points required to "qualify." The best I have done so far (a pretty **** good performance) is 57,344. Most important, however, I simply want to get this song to Mastery Mode, like I have with so many others.
I really need to know how to adjust the game so that it will evaluate my performances correctly ... I am a musician and college professor (in music), so I really do have a pretty good idea of when I'm playing a part correctly!
Looking forward to your assistance ... thank you in advance!

You can replace the song, with another song you can complete. Just go to your left, click on the event, choose setlist, select the song, and choose replace.
I have the offspring pack, and while I have not mastered them, I have no problem getting over 90K on each of them.

Could need more signal. I suggest turning tone and volume to 10 and picking hard. I have no problems at all with that song.

My 2 cents say you're blaming the wrong piece of equipment. Either your intonation is out or as mentioned below the signal is weaksauce. Rocksmith is really fussy about the signal and if turning the volume/tone upto 10 doesn't fix it and maybe raise the pickups a bit?
First step is to try a different guitar and if you have the same result you've either got 2 guitars needing a better set up or you need to consider user error. You could be bending the strings just enough to make rocksmith say no.
Good luck and if you find a solution I'd be interested to hear what it was.

I have mastered Gone Away without and problems on the double stops. Not sure what your issue is. Is it just not registering ANY of your double stops, or just a specific set of them?

Definiely check your intonation and tuning.
I really don't think it's a problem with that song as I mastered all 3 Offspring songs, I don't recall any problems with Gone Away.

I haven't had any issues with Gone Away or Self Esteem, BUT...
Come out and play I have.
I think the problem is mostly me though.
Also...is it just me or do the songs have some type of loud feedback or something?

Had the very same problem with the very same song. Did a post and everyone thought I was crazy. Took my guitar in for a tune up and seemed to help a bit, but still doesn't want to register all the notes, but just love that song to death.

thank you!
thanks for all the replies ... I was wondering if the intonation on the instrument was off. I will try with my second guitar when I get home in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm going to replace it in the set list.
Again, thanks for all the replies ... was glad to see I am not the only one who has problems. I'm not much of a guitar player (getting better, thanks to Rocksmith), but I made my living for about 25 years as a professional studio bassist. I've got a good ear, and the intonation does not appear to be off, but will check it with a tuner.

I also have problems with 2 and 3 note chords registering. Especially when they are on the high strings. Try picking these from the bottom up, that usually works for me.
