i changed the name of the explosion file to explosion1 and that didn't work, so i deleted the file from the folder entirely and saved it somewhere. neither strategies worked.

Wait, what exactly is your issue? Are you at the last mission and the game crashes? Because moving or renaming the explosion file is only for this issue.
If your game is freezing, stuttering or whatever this thread was about, then that’s a completely different issue and the explosion file has nothing to do with this!![]()

ohhh ok that makes sense.
i was messing around with the explosion file in the hopes that that would help the stuttering issue.
derp.
Do you still have the stuttering issue? Most people don’t have it anymore, it was a server thing. Maybe you have a bad connection, which would maybe enhance the stuttering thing.
To get rid of it, turn of your internet. Turn off your Wifi, unplug your ethernet cable… whatever! But it should be a temporary thing :/

I have had the same issue as well. I tried a lot of things as well - unplugged, firewalled, verified driver & OS updates, turned off V-Sync, pulled the controller, etc. Nothing worked.
Then I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it through steam. It worked!!! For 2 runs. Then it went right back to stuttering and dropping into the menu.
If this is a known bug. Why isn't UBI at least posting it as a known issue?
I had the same problem. Then I turned off V-sync, and I've never had a problem since. Also, make sure all your Windoes drivers are updated, soundcard included.
However... I'm starting to get that problem where people's speech won't play anymore. Every other sound works, just can't hear people talk.
Got the stuttering issue, drivers all up to date, game patched to 1.04
Game runs with ease, regardless of the settings I use, but every 5-10secs it momentarily pauses, turned WiFi off it still does it, downgraded the settings, turned off v-sync anything and everything and it still does it, definitely not a GPU issue, but seems more often than some people report the DRM doing it.
any ideas?

So there's no help for this?
Seemingly a DRM check issue, where the supposed workarounds don't seem to work for me
What a joke. Only I'm not laughing!
Unbelievable
Oh well. Uninstalled Driver SF, uninstalled Uplay
Will never, ever touch a Ubisoft game on PC ever again!
