@ UBI GRO team.....You guys want to have a bigger fan base / players

Hers just a thought, Once you guys have your improvements in place and are ready for OB, you guys might want to hook up with STEAM. Just a case in point, When APB Reloaded was released they had a few thousand players who came to play and registered, once APB went to steam they had over 1 million players sign up and register to play in 1 weeks time. I could see GRO smashing that recored if you decide to link up with Steam.

There's a lot of discussion about this in a few other threads, every indication is that GRO will be available on Steam in the future.

Most Ubisoft games are on Steam, and they've never had issues with it in the past. I think getting GRO in the Steam Free-2-Play section would be awesome.

Amazon has a free to play game section now too, though getting it on Steam should be a top priority.

Of course UBI wants more players on GRO. That's obvious. The question is when. Getting it on Steam in OB probably isn't a huge priority. It'll make more sense for that to happen once OB transitions to FC.

Sorry Suprhero, It had to be done...

    Anyways, ....
I have noticed a decline in the quality of the players once a free to play game hits steam. Plus, if you pay through steam you don't get as much in game coin. My sad (I am not proud) and depressing days playing war inc (yes i have deleted it) enlightened me to the steam fund. One for you, two for steam....

I don't mind steam but i do also have a few issues with Steam. Yes it's been said before GR:O will end up on the steam bandwagon. But here is my issues with steam i am fairly new to it only because a few older games i play forced steam upon us.

Issue #1 - As Neg stated they do have a bad thing of buy some stuff threw us it's 1 for you 2 for us. I guess this is sort of a fair trade off for the sales they usually put out.

Issue#2 - Steam overlay and steam running in the background is a huge FPS/Latency killer. Yes i do not run big time PC's like most PC gamers. But i do and deal with what i can afford. Now this being said i know you can kill the steam overlay but at the same time it kills the achievements you can earn in Steam.

Issue#3 - I personally have not had a good DL from steam without having some sort of corrupted/missing files. Yes you can validate manually but i really shouldn't have to due that just to make sure i got a full functioning game that i decided to download.

Also when GR:O goes into the Steam section i do hope they leave it for us people that do not want to use steam and force steam upon us as some other games have done. But i am all for steam users and how ever they wish to play and get their games.

They all ready have nearly 70% of the market and are hungry for more. Many experts say that they are violating several anti-trust laws. What they have is a near monopoly now, with out the big boys getting there cut. Some of the legislation now being worked on will bring a lot of what there doing to a screeching halt. Here a little info :

Many major publishers have large catalogs available on Steam, including Bethesda Softworks, Activision, Rockstar Games, Electronic Arts, Square Enix, 2K Games, Namco, LucasArts, Sega and more.
Sales figures for Steam have not been released by Valve. However, Stardock, the previous owner of competing platform Impulse, estimated that, as of 2009, Steam had a 70% share of the digital distribution market for video games.[8] In early 2011, Forbes reported that Steam sales constituted 50 to 70% of the $4 billion market for downloaded PC games and that Steam offered game producers gross margins of 70% of purchase price, compared with 30% at retail.[87] In 2011, Steam served over 780 petabytes of information, double what it had delivered in 2010.[88]
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale sold more than 140,000 units, which its localization distributor, Carpe Fulgur, attribute in part to Steam and its sales.[89] Magicka sold 30,000 copies on its day of release in January 2011,[90] and went on to sell 200,000 in 17 days.[91] Garry's Mod sold 312,541 in its first two years[92] and reached 1,000,000 after five years[93] with yearly sales growth of 33%.[94]
In November 2011, it was revealed by the developer of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings that Steam was responsible for 80% of the online sales of the game.[95]
Bethesda stated that by May 2012, over 13.6 million mods had been downloaded for Skyrim through the Steam Workshop feature of the Steam client, considering the service a success.

Steam integration gives the devs tons of options and a bigger market share there is no reason to not use it
