Thread: Gettiing used to the string colors ... | Forums

I don't think it's really a problem I have. I think it was because I related them with each other since the beginning. Red was E purple was e. Thinking of it that way since the start just let them both fill the same space in my head.

And I would never buy 18 dollar strings. Sometimes I make a stupid mistake stringing my floyd rose up and the string will snap. I'd rather be out a dollar for the string then 18 for the set.

It has taken me a very long time to be able to play without consciously thinking about which string to play. Once I learn a song it's not bad, but a lot of initial play throughs are rough and I have to pause to figure them out. Even replaying Use Some for the first time made me pause with the double stop riff so I could figure out which string was the 9th fret and which was the 8th.

For me anyway, tab would make this a lot easier, but once I figure out a song, I figure it out.

It's still hard for me. I feel like the blue and orange string colors should be switched. Red, Yellow and Green, Purple I have no problem with. But when blue and orange show up I have a brain ****. I learned the strings by name far before this game came out and that caused some problems but for now I'm mostly ok with it.

I just switched the string orientation to inverted yesterday to be like tablature, and that seemed to help a bit. I guess I was more used to tab than I thought.
