I, fortunately, already have 3 basses I can use, I don't have to get one just for the game.

Yeah, I got an old MIM Jazz Bass stashed back in a closet. I put it up, 'cuz it shredded my fingers. LOL! I guess this Bass DLC will eventually toughen them up.
I heard they's a man there pays folks money to sing into a can.

For anyone still interested in the original topic, on the Gamestop site, their description for the new retail release claims:
"Comprehensive bass support.
Bass arrangements have been added to all of Rocksmith's tracks. Not only can you play the bass part of the song, but bassists of any experience can also improve their skills, like two-finger plucking, slapping and popping with dedicated Bass Technique challenges, tutorial videos and mini-games. You can even use your six-string guitar to emulate a four-string bass! Tracking your progress has never been easier, with your bass progression tracked separately from guitar!"
So is there anything else on this new disk other then bass support? If we pay $30 for the bass download, will our current setup be exactly the same as someone who buys the new disk?
I assume you'll get the same functionality whether or not you bought the new 'bass included' disc vs. paid for the upgrade. Both will get the patches that they are releasing, so our current setup is going to get better as a result of whatever's in that patch (including set speed, the video lag fix, and whatever else is in there).
Absolutely right. I think most people feel this way. I took beatings on Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Battlefield 3, Batman Arkham Asylum and City, Borderlands, etc etc etc plus every time I buy an iphone. it's the cost of being an early adopter. This is still a relatively cheap hobby.
