True, most of our ideas are based on existing features or are inspired by things that exist in the game and we think of alternatives to. I'm certainly not suggesting that members get credited with being the creative geniuses behind something, but if there were members that promoted something well enough to get it considered, or complained enough about black and white for example, it would be fun to see the Dev's point the finger at them.
GRFS credited forum members for assistance, I would have liked to see what they helped with. Problem is, it's probably such a broad amount of dialogue that it really isn't one specific thing they helped with.

I'm not real serious about this, but I have enjoyed the new interaction the Development cycle seems to be having with forum members. It's fun

SolidSage, your idea reminds me about this guy and he was extremely unhappy after GRFS release.

I'm glad they got his name into the credits.

The guy has spent a lot of time and effort on the forums and he made some solid points regarding the game's direction, and I find myself agreeing with Dan regarding the SP segment......the MP however is absolutely brilliant IMO.

Kudos to Tommy Jacobs and team.

I've experienced the glitches he talks about, stack up limbo and audio loss, sometimes an objective interaction failure. But nowhere near frequently enough to make me think it's odder than any of the other glitches that are always prevalent in games. Back in Vegas it was about corners where you could get LOF on someone but couldn't be hit in return.

You know, they are the kind of glitches that irritate but you can easily figure out how to avoid them. 30K not stacking up is easy, you don't enter the white engage spot before he is on his mark. I haven't ever had the problem since because we know how to avoid it. Yes, ideally it shouldn't happen but things slip by sometimes.

Anyway, I disagree like Shobhit about MP. It is a finely polished and superior MP experience. I personally feel that it takes Rainbow's approach to another level, simply one of the best shooter MP's to date. The times I run into glitches like Audio drop are to do with the matchmaking I think. You get in a lobby that's got players from all over the place and it's just too much for the connection. That's the real issue I think, the auto matchmaking feature Ubisoft pioneered in Brotherhood, it's a similar system in GRFS and it's just causes unnecessary problems sometimes. I THINK.

I would have agreed about the SP initially but I am replaying it again and embracing the approach. Yes it's linear, yes it's not like old GR (good), but if you take it a face value, treat it like a shooter and get at it, it's a really fun game.
I would be VERY upset if they did that to SC though, so I see where he's coming from if this is his all time favorite series...but me, I dig it, it's a good time and I only need it to fill the gap until October!

Glitches and bugs aren't so important for me.

Unfortunately, Dan's review already convinced me not to buy GRFS because of its linearity. And GFRS is too linear for my taste. Just look at this sequence (9 min 50 sec). You can't fly through the fan, you can't drive underneath it (but it looks like visually you can do it), you can't smash your drone into the fan, invisible wall, you know. Moreover, you can't shut down the second fan before the first one. It's too linear experience!

P.S: I'm not a Ghost Recon fan, I didn't play previous games, so my opinion isn't important

^ Yes, GRFS is all about engaging the enemy, not really environmentally tiered at all, and the pathways are very restricted. Most levels are really scenes that you play through. And if you can accept it for that, it's a lot of fun. They are good scenes. I prefer them with the action turned up higher....it's more of a rush.

I tried Ghost Recon in the early days, when Rainbow first made the jump to console. I didn't get a thrill, it was wide open maps, not a lot going on in them, and very slow. Boring is not a fair word but that's how the first one felt for me. As usual, because of getting that feeling early on, I didn't give the game a good lengthy play test, so I can't really attest to how good it was or wasn't. All the episodes after looked uninteresting to me until GRFS.
Ultimately I think I was hoping for something more like Conviction but with even larger maps and more AI. It's not like that, it's more like a combination of similar mechanical controls and visuals, and then a pretty cool and entertaining story and concept playing out like a scene from a movie. I like these Ghosts better and think this vision COULD turn GR into a franchise I would frequent more.

My view is that I can really only have so many super immersing titles on the go per year. If I run RDR, and ACB and SCC, that's really enough deep game for me that I will play fully and then repeat. So with that depth going on for that rotation, I then slide in some more casually involving titles, say BAC, GRFS, and Uncharted. Then there's another level for kind of consumable games, like I AM Alive and GOW3. (First time Gears has been a consumable for me). Then there are the family games I jump into with the kids, Rayman was going good for a minute, now they're on Lego Batman, I haven't played that yet (trying to avoid it )
These are just examples of course, there's no telling which game will offer the repeat draw. I expect SCB to be one, SCC kept me interested for more than 2 years, that's a long time. Gears used to be a deep game for me but this last one was more of the same, and while as good as or better than the others, it got consumed fast and doesn't pull me back right now. Maybe later, some games do make returns, GTA4 for example, Metal Gear, others.
While GRFS may be a turn off for some, for me, it is far more appealing than a Mass Effect or Deus Ex...and both of those titles have MASSIVE market approval. So it's not always about quality as much as what colors or style catches your eye and what fits your schedule.

When I play next it will either be GRFS, or SCC for one of the several co-op appointments I've made. Nothing else is really grabbing my attention right now. Probably because Summer is hyper active around here
Like you, I didn't love Ghost Recon enough to be hurt by the change to it's format. I do love Splinter Cell though and feel good about what Conviction did for the franchise. I have high expectations for Blacklist, I think they can amaze me again.

The sequence you showed is one of several similar to that, where you pilot your UAV for some mandatory reason or another. It's doesn't allow for deviation, but in a game that is quite long, these sequences are very short and somewhat unimportant. The Diamond Formation sequences are similar but more of an exotic game play event, they are also few and far between and VERY restrictive. but they are also short, like the fan bypass, relatively easy and quite entertaining actually. Arcadey moments maybe, but pretty cool.

I mean in all, GRFS is about loading into a map and going and dusting the AI in a fashion of your choosing, unless you want to protest them to death, that option's not in there. It's good consumable fun.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to play it, just letting you know where I come from with my opinions. I don't need every game to be a masterpiece of art and engage me for several years. Same with movies, I'm not memorizing quotes from any of them anymore, just watching, being entertained and then moving on. That's what makes games special, they can maintain interest by letting you challenge yourself, compete or just do it a different way.

Here are my thoughts about GRFS:

I believe it is Great, not without faults yes, but great non the less, let me start by the MP since that got few complaints on my side, Ubi's servers SUCK, simple as that, if it wasn't for that, the MP would have been alot better, it is totally good when I am not host migrating or losing connection.

The SP now, which I believe is really really really amazing, I loved the Story, I don't know, it seemed classic to me ((and I experienced a similar story just a week after playing GRFS in Ace Combat Assault Horizon)), the only not so fun moments where the Diamond Formation times due to lack in control, but the rest of the game, well it is Stealth & Action, since I played on Elite Difficulty the game was a blast, Stealth is so awesome, you need to think who to take first, cause if a dead body is found then you are going into full action, it gave me a thrill and I replayed some sequences countless times for that, The Action on Elite is also a blast, 2 bullets and you are dead, no really that is true, no more run and gun, it becomes more of a tactical cover shooter, a good one if you ask me since the AI of the enemy is pretty good, it had IMO a healthy mix between Stealth & Action, whatever you are in, you are enjoying it, The Missions were varied and beautiful too, especially the last 3 or 4 missions, these was BEASTS, half of the very last mission is just awesome beyond words.

That is what I believe, there are bad moments in the campaign, but the vast majority of it is just amazing.
