[Official statement] Uplay PC login issues over the week-end

    Hi everyone,

An important downtime of our authentication servers have impacted many services over the week-end, and prevented logging in to Uplay PC. This issue has now been fully resolved.

While players with existing accounts could switch to offline mode for supported games, it was not possible to create new accounts or register newly acquired games. We understand that the error message on the login screen - mentioning a wrong login or password - could be misleading for existing users and we would like to apologize to anyone who had troubles accessing his games during this downtime.

We are of course investigating the exact cause of this issue on the technical side, as well as reviewing ways to provide clearer information to our players in such unfortunate events.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Actually doing something simple like posting a thread when you discovered you had a problem would have helped alot.

I personally have no problem when a service is down, that happens. But what I do have an issue with, is when a company gives no info at all to it's customers, even if it feels like a post without an ETA is bad, the silence is alot worse.

It took hours before a Ubisoft forum manager even answered in a thread about login issues, and a customer shouldn't have to search through threads to find a answer to a issue that you know about.

12 hours silence if your service is not functioning is not acceptable. If you opt for a heavy drm then provide the necessary service. I will not buy any uplay game anymore.

I had logged in once, then had the same issue, so it was NOT available to all users with existing accounts. Also it was not that the message "could be misleading", it was that the message was false. Your apologies ring hollow in light of the heavy handed DRM and obvious disregard for your customers. On a day that any reasonable person would have KNOWN to expect large volumes of new customers (Steam Summer Sale), you chose to have no one available for an extended period. These customer-hostile tactics might have flown in the past, but I think the gaming populace is becoming weary of them. I didn't know about UPlay before I purchased this, or I would not have done so. After Diablo IIII and this, always on DRM will keep me from buying the game, period. I am DONE with this type of half-...baked solutions that sacrifice my time in order to save some huge publisher's. No more. You hear me Maxis? I love the hell out of Sim City but Blizzard and UbiSoft have completely crush the last shred of trust I had for game publishers.

You haven't told us the whole truth. Might & Magic Heroes VI requires you to be logged in, unless you want to play only the tutorial levels. Your apologies are welcome but ubisoft should fix all these problems, which are damaging the reputation of ubisoft.

What Ubisoft STILL doesnt get is:

All these DRM troubles and bad publicity it's causing is making Ubisoft lose MORE money than they would ever lose to pirates if they used normal copy protection methods!

All Ubi is doing at the moment is pissing all over the paying customers: We, the PAYING CUSTOMERS cannot play games we've LEGALLY PURCHASED while pirates party on and play their downloaded games. WTF, really... I was forced to DOWNLOAD A CRACK FROM THE PIRATE COMMUNITY to play a game I legally purchased during the weekend because of this DRM BS!

WAKE UP TO THE REAL WORLD UBI! YOU'RE LOSING MONEY BECAUSE OF THIS DRM CRAP!

This happened to you with StarForce crap. WHY HAVENT YOU LEARNED ANYTHING?!

    idiotic

So basically Ubisoft only have one set of authentication servers? No backup servers to cut-over to that could handle requests and continue service?... in making us use uplay to play their games Ubisoft are now providing a service where downtime should be minimised and on days where the impact is minimised.. Not over the weekend which I would imagine is the busiest period! Additionally, I did not receive any notification of server (actual or potential) outages which the website could've clearly displayed. Then there was the silence when we were all complaining in other threads. This would be classed as a major outage yet all we the customer got was silence. Very badly done...

I for one will not be purchasing anymore games from ubisoft using uplay once I finish the assassins creed games I purchased recently. I have assassins creed 3 on pre-order but I will be cancelling due to this farce.

Hugely dissapointed with uplay and ubisoft.. I bought heroes of might and magic 6 on the steam summer sale.. at first I couldnt even play it for like two days due to uplay being down.. now I can play but everytime I start the game uplay has to "sync my savegames with the cloud" for several minutes.. and when the game finally starts my most recent saves are still gone WTF!?.. as others have already stated uplay is ****, scrap it immediately please.. oh and you can keep your "exclusive wallpapers" thanks

Well finally a statement from Ubisoft, even if that 1 here comes about 24 hours to late. Sorry but this is really not enough. This message should have been up on the forums 1 hour after you have discovered the problem and all would have had no problems with it. This now on the other hand is just a joke!!! Plz scrap your **** system or go and look how other companies are handling the story, not one will let the community without a sticky for so long time.

    **** service, **** responce, **** Ubisoft !!!
