The early groove bonus is only much bigger with regards to chords, if you are trying to keep consistent timing between chords and single notes then the early groove window is a lot smaller.

Again I have to credit cgeorg for creating the visual:
Because this is a very important concept in music theory that playing an early groove brightens and gives the song extra energy while playing behind the groove darkens and subdues it. On the groove is sort of a balance, but very one-dimensional and mechanical imo. I don't know if the game does it, but I should think that depending on the type of song, or even down in the section, is how it should favor early, on time or late groves. 100, 200, 300 or 150, 300, 150 or 300, 200, 100

    Just a thought.

You ever notice trying to tune the low E string with an accurate tuner? If it's like mine, the E string will vibrate sharp and then calm down a split second later (maybe two splits later ). Using the bridge pickup and reducing attack helps while tuning, and my guess here too.

In my experience with this song, when I blow chords, it's always that C over E chord. Tomorrow, I am going to try to soften my attack a little here and make sure I'm on bridge only.

But my big issue is that dam.n outro - i can nail all the single notes, until the last 10 or so, and actually it's like 2 notes that are throwing my train of thought right out the window. pfft. still don't have that section max'd out because of that. As my first weekly challenge, I was going to go Div 2 or 3 if I got some purple scores and I think my playing "sounds" good, i.e. a good youtube video. But with this outro hitch and the fact that my scores went down tonight, (111k down to 106k) now I'm think that Div 4 might be really where I should be. With that said, and 25-30 "arrangements" mastered in 18-20 songs, what would you guys enter at?
You are definitely not a Div 4. I think your first instinct was correct, you are probably between division 2 and 3. I wouldn't use score to select division this week.
I see you just posted that you got the Master Mode Event Trophy, Congrats! I have been struggling to get that one and I am Div 1. Thanks for outlining your method on that, I plan to give it try at the weekend.

    Update my final score.

I am done with this song. Too much frustration it might be the last time I would play it.

Not being an arse or anything... You go to an audition and play behind or in front of the beat and then come tell me how they reacted to your coloring the song with playing off time.

I haven't managed to improve my score, but I was able to Master the song. It sounded pretty bad though... LOL. I don't think i'll play this again for awhile...
    Rockin since Nov 4th, 2011.

That wasn't what I meant - I just meant that most of the songs previously picked (when I've been looking) have been way above my ability level and maybe a Div 3 player would be more likely to pick a slighlty easier one, as you did.
In this game my musical taste veers towards what I can play a bit.
I'm happy with the current song in that sense - I don't particularly like it as a song, but the power chords are, at least at a basic level, easy, and the more challenging parts - the E/B string interlude and the G/D string thing - are not ridiculously hard, so it's a good level for me, it's worth participating. Megadeth would just be depressingly difficult (to say nothing about whether it's any good as music). Proof that the challenge works - I've got quite a bit better at this song as a result.

I'm not actually discouraged by higher scores as such - just sometimes a little annoyed with self for not practising better and getting better faster, etc, you know... Anyway I did go through RR and improve my scores a fair bit, in fact I mastered the song - just - but I'm not uploading that pic as the score was slightly lower than this earlier one. So my best actual score so far is this:

I may try to roughly memorise the sequence of segments enough to bash out an MM score of some sort since I've got there, if I can find a bit of time.

Excellent! That is what these challenges are really about, just pushing people to get better.

On a side note... I busted out a 268/98% run and got 115k... go figure.

Posted a little improvement up to 115.6K now. I did have 1 run @97% accuracy, but score was only 113K...my goal is 98% accuracy and then I'll focus on MM where my goal is 95% accuracy and a score of 220K.

Also mentioned earlier by others, RS does have a problem with saving the Note Streak data. I had 2 runs that when I watched the replays all the notes flashed showing registration and the on-screen notices displayed my hot streaks incrementally all the way up to 450 each time, but according to the "Song Results" screen I was only credited with 284 & 231 respectively. Oh well.

Yep happened to me with a 500 plus streak and then my results showed like 279 or something.
