Computer Crashing in Heroes 6 | Forums

Installed Heroes 6 this morning, but can't play as I crash shortly after starting a new custom game. First time was immediately after checking the hero ability tree for the sanctuary hero, second time was immediately after attacking a kappa pack, third time was while alt tabbed out of the game entirely. In each case my computer instantly powers off.

Using Windows 7 64-bit
FX-4100
Radeon HD 4890, using most recent driver
Settings are at their defaults, with graphics at 1920x1080 and the high preset.
I installed the game through steam (deluxe edition, patched to 1.5)

Im in the same boat as you. I can play the game for several minutes, up to approximately 20 minutes, and then the game and the whole computer locks up. I have up to date gfx drivers and directx. I updated everything I could think of and still crash a whole ton. This happens to me in the campaign as well.

Windows 7 x64
Radeon HD 6950
Default settings, 1680x1050(I also tried lower resolutions, didn't help)

I also tried using different patch version, no luck.

Seems my computer may simply have been overheating. Reduced the core clock on the video card, turned on v-snyc, lowered the settings and everything's fine (played for two hours, no issues).

I turned down my core clock on video card and also turned on vsync...no crash. Not sure whether it was one or both, but I've been playing for a while now without incident.
