Years experience : # of guitars ratio

Just curious to see how many guitars some people have in relation to the number of years they have been playing.
I'm still planning on buying a epiphone les paul prophecy custom plus EX/GX whenever they release the **** thing.

about 3 years: 2 guitars. (electric $250 and acoustic $100). lol im cheap.

I'm about 3 years, and 3 guitars (although technically one's on order, expected anytime). That puts me at a 1:1 ratio I suppose.

My $600 G&L Tribute Legacy on-order will be my most expensive guitar. My others are a $200 Ibanez GAX and a $250 Tanglewood Acoustic. The G in GAS can stand for Gear and not Guitar, though, so with amps, pedals and other goodies, you may not be as cheap as you think!

Hmm over all time? My highschool years are some what of a blur but people tell me I was in a band.

I played a few years back then but put it down until several months ago.

I own two guitars. Epiphone Les Paul Special II, Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus

I've been playing on and off for 18 years or so....I've owned 4 guitars in my life:

cheap strat knockoff (maybe an epiphone, can't remember) - sold it to uprade to a PRS Santana SE (which is now modified to be nothing like it with the exception of the original body/neck) - then I splurged in Feb after finding Rocksmith and bought a Gibson Les Paul Traditional - and I own a 1941 Gibson J-35 acoustic, one of the most highly collectable guitars and worth more than all of my other gear combined.

on the amps & effects side - I have a marshall vavlestate amp, blackstar HT 60, cheapo Crate 15W, a few effects pedals, a multi fx board,

next up for me will be a new acoustic - probably a Taylor or Martin
i post from my iPad most of the time so forgive the typos!

hmm I have been playing guitar since 1988 and picked up the bass in the 90's. I have a 10 year old PRS Custom 24 ($2,400), An 8 year old Blue Ridge BR-180 acoustic, and a ? year old Yamaha TRB-5 Bass! I love my PRS so much, I really have no desire for another guitar. Worth every penny although I don't know if I would have it had I not gotten it before I met my Wife

I've been playing on and off for about 35 years. A lot as a teenager, and on and off ever since. With Rocksmith I am very much in a super "on" cycle since January. Can't put it down.

I have a functional selection of 5 electric guitars, 2 acoustic guitars, and 2 bass guitars. I guess that is a ratio of 4:1, years:guitars.
My price threshold/target has been consistently around $400 to $500 with one notable exception. I have bought more than half of my guitars used.
Many of my guitars were impulse opportunity buys caused by wandering into music stores or hearing something from friends or email discounts etc.

Here is the line up and distinctive features (which I used to justify the purchase) in order of acquisition:.
USA Fender Strat - bought second hand - Fixed Bridge 21 fret
Aria Knight Warrior - Bought new, I was teenager and wanted a humbucker, a locking nut tremolo system and 22 frets. Main guitar for years.
Yamaha acoustic - First acoustic for portability etc.
Aria 4 String Bass - Bought Used. Took up Bass guitar for a while when needed to fill up band line up.
Ibanez JS100 - Bought Used. Wanted higher quality main guitar and dropped Aria KW to spare in case of broken strings. Main guitar for years (see below).
Soundgear (by Ibanez?) 5-String Bass - Bought Used. Wanted 5 string bass for recording, covering certain songs etc.
Ibanez RG??? 7 String - Bought Second hand from friend. Um, it has 7 strings. Still have trouble playing it. Looks nice though.
Ovation Celebrity Acoustic - Bought new within last 12 months. Wanted eletricfied acoustic. Very nice as straight acoustic too.
Music Man JP6 - Bought New, very recently. Has Piezo bridge for emulating acoustic sound, first 24 fret 6 string guitar. Absolutely fantastic. This is now my main guitar. My poor JS100 cries itself to sleep on its huge pillow

I have always wanted a Les Paul, so that might be the next purchase down the road...... but I just can't find the functional rationalization......

I'm about at a year and 1/2 as well (outside of a lesson or 2 and some occasional messing around several years ago that never came to anything.) I have 3 electrics and one acoustic. I have another electric on order, but I will sell one of the other electrics at that time.
My pick-up toggle switch has 3 modes: Swank, Extra Swank, and Super Swank
