Well after all is said and done this is the final build:

AMD Fx-8150
ASUS M5A99X EVO MOBO

16G Corsair Vengance DDR3

XFX Double D FX-HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 GPU

W7 Ultimate

I did get a new case - MSI Interceptor series Barricade and am using the stock cooler thus far. I will start to put this all together in a week or so. I probably shoould have gone with at least a 2TB HD.. but I got this drive almost a year ago.

Thanks for all the suggestions... After all is said and done I will wind up getting that GPU for $220.. for a great one card solution and the only future upgrade might be another 16G of RAM and another card if it calls for it.. and by then both should be substantially less than they were now in cost.
