    Cover Peek Timer

So, I was thinking and got a pretty good idea one day on GRO. You know the timer you get after sprinting before you can shoot? What if one of those was added when you peek over/around cover. This would prevent snipers or anyone to do an instant peek and shoot and then pop your head back down. The timer would only prevent you from shooting instantly but you could still duck your head back down whenever.

That would encourage camping to an extreme. Imagine three snipers covering a walkway. Good luck clearing that with anyone.

yeah, that would be awful... and it really negates the point of getting in cover

I would just prone somewhere if that happened.

Not only would it prevent snipers from killing, well, anyone... but any class who actually used the cover mechanic would be totally boned as well.

All anyone would have to do is just rush your postion and you cant even shoot back. They would ALWAYS have the first burst on whoever was using cover. Thats the WORST idea and it destroys an entire game mechanic.

What do you mean it promotes camping? It clearly does not promote camping, it encourages rushing. + No you would not have a disadvantage in cover and it does not break any gameplay, you should see them coming/already have your head peeked in cover thus allowing you to have enough time to shoot. It just adds more tactic to cover instead of instant pop out and back in.

You clearly are doing it wrong because snipers shouldn't be using cover like that in the first place if you want any sort of realism.

I'm not sure what you mean it would encourage camping? Three snipers covering a walkway from cover? This happens constantly and it would be harder for them since they would not be able to pop in and out of cover instantly. It would be easier to rush them and clear it, not sure what you're saying here.

They all peek out at the same time, there's no way anyone can snipe all 3 in time.

Sure they can, just without using cover :P It would encourage more tactically placed snipers and most snipers should like this because it means they can't get instant sniped from cover by other snipers.

While the sentiment is great (something NEEDS to be done about popshooting), I agree with the counterargument. I believe this very question was asked in the live Dev Q&A stream hosted by chemzero. Jesse Knapp, the lead designer, said adding this would discourage using the cover system. This game's backbone is the cover system, and discouraging using cover would basically be a death sentence to the core gameplay.
