Will the polls affect the outcome of Blacklist?

There have been a lot of polls popping up lately, and AssassinDOA asked an intriguing question on whether or not they will make a difference... Let's find out...

EDIT: How embarrassing... It's supposed to say, "I could "BEAT" Maxime in a leg wrestle..."

....Please don't take me too seriously.... Well, mostly do, but don't...

I didn't want to bump this thread to the top but Jakeman did it so to answer ur question... No

They are in mid or late production, so the story, gameplay, dialog & ect are set, ubisoft will not permit the developers to change anything drastic because its not their money that is on the line. The developers (bcuz they love us) can only add stuff within reason without pissing off the higher ups.

And yet here we are, giving the developers a hard time for something they have restricted influence on.

Sam : Tell me about the meeting.
Merc : The meeting? Why do you want to know about the meeting?
Sam : that's not the way it works. I ask you a question, and you give me an answer that prevents me from breaking your neck.

How much money would it cost to add variable speed in?

Other than giving ghosts alternative, and legitimate, paths to take in a mission which I will say they have done based on their word (for now) that is my top priority. Seriously...they have added a lot of the classic elements in:
    Moving bodies
    Whistling
    Corner takedowns
NVG (based on comments made by Patrick Redding)
Adjusted the way the maps are to allow for ghosts as well as panthers to play in with action fans being able to sweep through
    Night missions are confirmed

All that makes it sound like an SC game. Obviously they've kept M&E and made it KIM as well which is whatever as long as they've found a way to make it not encouraged. Just a tool that is as optional to use as the sticky cams have always been. And I don't mind the way the demo starts with M&E...that's basically a cutscene as it is...that's fine if I have to use it there since ordinarily I wouldn't do anything at all. In that instance it actually gives more control to the player. But if every missions has scenes like that....and especially multiple times....sigh. But if what they say is TRUE, and for now I'll go along with what they say until I see it, then M&E will never be forced and there will always be an alternative. The whistling will definitely help with luring guards from places that'd promote KIM.

Anyway. So if all of the above is true...I may buy the game but here's the thing. even with all of that....without variable speed....which both panthers and ghosts want.....the stealth will always seem shallow even with all of that in place. though it may not be terrible like SCC was IMO.

Another thing...would what I want for example be hard to do? All I'm really asking for is...
    - Variable Speed. This is probably the hardest thing I'm asking for...
    - The classic SC-20k....how hard would it be to model an assault rifle that looks like either the SC-20k from SAR/PT or the one from CT/DA and then give it the properties of the tactical crossbow as well? Maybe the buttons will prevent that but no. Not true. I think Back or LB is the button for Gadgets now right? What if that button, rather than throwing or whatever he does now...shoots the sticky cam? Or shoots a sticky shocker. I'm sure it could be done. This would also just be another nice shoutout to the ghosts. The classic ghost weapon of choice or whatever.
    - Lastly....on the off chance they do have forced sequences like the 'Jadid one obviously is and reoccurs multiple times throughout the game...would it really be hard to remodel the specific area of the mission to be more ghost friendly? A couple forced instances in the game will be okay, SAR had plenty, but it needs to have a very severe limit. Couldn't they get a dedicated team to ensure the game is like....at least 90% ghostable (and the type of ghostable the fans want...truly want...not just simple vents bypassing EVERYTHING). That's already a lot less than SAR which I'd say had 3-5% forced instances. Most of which could still be stealthed.

Would those 3 things really be that hard to implement from now to release? I'm not asking for new voicework, a total story revision (though if possible, that Jadid scene and any like it could do with some alteration....just make him eat cyanide...ANYTHING...dont make Sam look dumb), or anything super radical. Those 3 things will make me happy. Obviously...if NVG isn't actually in the game...I'd like those too but I'd say that'd take...what....a couple days to a week tops to implement? All it is, is a vision mode revision...take out the ability to see through walls, make shadows still visible when using it and then tint it all green. Boom. Obviously there's a little more to it but would that take long? Cost much?

The biggest alteration I want is to have variable speed. That actually involves altering the movement system but keep in mind. I'm okay with only one speed walking and one speed running and having the walk immediately turn into a run. fine. But crouching and moving should be variable and each should involve a different amount of sound. They could even semi-simplify it. Not sure how the sound works

But the slowest speed as of now, the default speed could make a noise of 1 -- really quiet. The running crouch could make a noise of 4 -- basically like running. Then they'd need to animate a really slow crouch speed (0) which is the silent one, then have the 1 speed go faster and faster in each with 2 appearing the same albeit a bit faster, 3 looking like the default crouch run as of now albeit slower.

Then they'd need to implement the sounds and the enemy reactions to go along with it -- I'm confident that that is definitely doable from now til release. If they want to cut corners, they could keep the animations and slightly speed them up. Then for the 0 speed...just make it appear like the CT crouch or SAR crouch....either is good. Maybe throw on a closer than ever animation and boom. You've just pleased a good bulk of people ranging from ghosts and loyal fans of the legacy games as well as panthers.

The alterations to missions, provided they haven't altered it enough as of now or are still building the missions should be fairly easy as well...especially if they haven't already designed every mission. That allows them to alter it before having finalized it. Easiest way. If they have finalized the majority...would it really hurt to go back and make a side route in some areas with a couple guards patrolling for ghosts or tto add a vent leading under Jadid and repositioning the bodyguards in a way that people can KIM them or sneak up and take them out. Stuff like that. Most of it would most likely come down to adjusting enemy positions and then adding a couple scenery items. Again....I feel it'd be very doable in the time remaining. This would be for the level design guys, the variable speed would be an entirely different group of people.

As for the NVG....honestly I bet one guy could get it working but a couple people could surely knock it out in no time. As for the SC-20k....least of my priorities actually. But this is another really small thing...it's just another rifle and could even use the same firing as another rifle (just one that is the most like the Legacy SC-20k). If it couldnt shoot gadgets or whatever.....that'd suck but at least the gadgets do return in some form. So even if it's just a rifle and not the true classic SC-20k....it'd be nice to look like the classic Sam especially if variable speed is back and all that other stuff is back.

Sorry for the looooooooooooong post and for if I keep repeating things...or went on too many tangents....I'm really tired and yeah.

What we say here obvisously has very little affect on the dev team. After all the posts complaining about no stealth in Conviction we still have yet to see stealth in Backlist. The dev team just don't care, and that is a **** shame.

Hey guys thanks for responding... I was hoping that it would be obvious that this was just a gag thread and not meant to be taken seriously, just trying to have a little fun on the forums... Having said that, I think the influence that we have been able to have on Blacklist has come from the Conviction forums, and while I hope to see a lot of our suggestions incorporated into the game, I'm sure there's very little that can be changed as far as game play goes.

Hi, all feedback is read by the Forum Managers, this is then passed on to the developers.
