Just checking in from LA. Family vacation visiting (in my case) in-laws and (in the case of wife & daughters) assorted relatives. Flew in yesterday. Already met some interesting folks. At the hotel had continental breakfast with MD neurologist from Houston (my old home town). Very interesting stuff going on in that field these days. Also found out our politics are similar - she is NOT an Obama supporter. Getting into a political discussion is invariably a social dance - a pas de deux of subtle exchanges until one or the other person feels confident enough to state his/her preferences and attitudes.

In-laws, on the other hand, are ardent supporters of the President. I can always point to a few things Obama has done that I agree with. It keeps the peace...
