Well after months of waiting for it to come back in stock I FINALLY got my new guitar. It's an Epi Les Paul Tribute Plus and I think it's an absolute amazing bang for the buck. Gorgeous flame maple top with all Gibson electronics - switch, pots (with coil splitting) and Classic 57 pickups; Grover locking tuners, and a pretty decent case.
I know it doesn't compete with some of the drool-worthy equipment here, and while I love my Classic Vibe Strat and Tele, this LP is just amazing. Amazing sound, incredible sustain, lovely to look at, and it just feels really nice.
Now, the RS related part: when it comes to note detection, RS definitely plays favorites. When I first got RS, I only had the Strat. There were issues with some chords not registering properly, double stops usually caused problems, and sometimes notes on the first few frets of the low E wouldn't register. The best setting seems to be full volume, tone knob at 8, and bridge pickup. Then I got the Tele, and most of the problems went away. There were still some rare chord detection issues, but no low E issues. Also happiest on the bridge pickup, but volume 8-9, and tone around 8. However, the LP is almost flawless. It registers almost everything and it doesn't matter what pickup setting, split/bucking, tone wherever, and volume 7-10.
