Here's a great parody video about how the prequels and special editions killed 'the Star Wars that we used to know'. I'm posting it here because the same sort of thing is happening with Splinter Cell. Plus, it's simply awesome. Enjoy!

Ubisoft, please prove me wrong.
Lol, Maxime tweeted the exact same video yesterday...
Um...
I like the Prequels. They get a bad rap. Everyone always focuses on the negatives but did anyone actually walk out of the theatre PISSED at Episode One? Really? Really?
Because I just remember everyone cheering and being excited afterward....maybe I'm too young and forgot my brother and mom have no recollection of people being OUTRAGED after....it seemed the criticisms only came after subsequent viewings. I love the Original Trilogy and nothing Star Wars-related will ever beat it...but I also feel that people look at them through a nostalgic lens and they have no such thing with the Prequels. Midichlorians for example, while I was upset at them originally...I realized...
how does that take away anything about The Force...? It's still mystical, and not scientific. The Force flows through everything and binds everything together. Midichlorians are just like microscopic organisms that live in/on us. They only use the Midichlorians as a way to sort of...estimate the POTENTIAL of a Jedi. theoretically, one can have few Midichlorians but be a great Jedi while one with a crapload (Anakin) can be a notsogood Jedi.
Sure the entire Gungan race is terrible. No arguments. You cut that out and half of what Little Annie says and the movie's already 3 times better. I don't get why people dislike the political aspect so much...It's always been there. The Empire was like Hitler's Nazi Germany in many ways. So Lucas showed Palpatines rise to power which wasn't through brute force but deceit and trickery and being "likable" just like Hitler did. Not to mention it was great to see the idealistic Jedi clashing with the politicians over matters. And who didn't like seeing real Jedi fight? I mean the Originals only had an old guy, a young kid who knew next to nothing and had very few masters, and a guy who was more machine than man. Wasn't it cool to see the Jedi in their prime clashing with enemies? The advanced techniques, etc.
Mock the Padme/Anakin scenes, mock Jar Jar and the gungans, mock young Annie, etc. But one can easily say that Luke is annoying in A New Hope, "Wahh...I wanted to go to Tosche Station to pick up some powerrrr converterssss....boohoo wah more b*tching" or that Vader's lines are a bit cheesy -- the only reason Hayden sounds "lame" when he talks is because he doesn't have James Earl Jones' amazing voice. Episode I would make a great 30-45 minute short film/prologue to Episode II. I can go on and on.
Originals > Prequels.
Are the Prequels unworthy of bearing the Star Wars name? No.
/unpopular opinion
Dude you freaking rock.
I loved the sequeals...not as much as the original but still loved them.
I came to this thread to make that statement but you pretty much covered everything I was gonna say.
When I went and say them in the theaters fans where cheering the entire time which is what suprises me when I see such backlash online.
I loved all the political parts it just made the universe seem more fleshed out.
Phatom Menace had the most flaws and most of those where removed in the following 2 sequeals.
People look at the first Movies with rose tinted glasses. All the flaws they mention in the prequels where in the originals too.
People say the prequeals are too campy....I disagree I don't think there was anymore campy parts in comparison to the originals.
O and Luke was just as annoying with some lines in the originals.
One last thing Geogre Lucas created SW and he can do what he wishs with them. (as long as he doesn't mess with the theatrical versions on dvd)
Variable speed gives more control over your walk/sneak which in turn gives your animations a personal touch and increases re-playability. It is also tied directly into the AI sound system.
Analogue controllers where created to give you more control over your character and the Developers have a responsibility to use it.
For me it's a no buy without it.
Yeah, Episode I had the most flaws but it also had arguably some of the BEST things in the entire saga. Qui-Gon's character was amazing and the philosophical and ideological differences he has with the council are great. They aren't perfect by any means but exactly: the originals had most of the same flaws haha.
One of my biggest gripes with the Prequels is actually something that most people like, including Original Triloogy fans who DESPISE the Prequels: Yoda with a lightsaber. Now let me preface this comment with: I loved it. It's badass. It's not even bad per se to see how scary Yoda would be if he wasn't a peace loving Jedi. But honestly? It hasn't sat right with me and that's because the Yoda of the Original Trilogy....at least to me...never would have used a lightsaber. In fact, I'm sure he'd never have built one or if he did, he would have abandoned it somewhere. I mean, most Jedi build it because it is tradition to build your own saber but I highly doubt you HAVE to (and as Lucas can do anything...he could have decided it's not ESSENTIAL just almost never a thing that Jedi choose to not have one).
I would have much preferred Yoda to use only The Force to battle Dooku who tried to use The Force and a lightsaber and couldn't win. For that matter, I wish Sidious didn't really have a lightsaber. A Sith Lord using mostly The Force against a Jedi who uses The Force would have been epic. If Sidious HAD to use a saber in his fight with Windu, Tiin, Fisto, and Kolar -- then he should have done stuff we've never seen in the films before. Turning the saber off when in a lock so that the Jedi stumbles forward and then spinning the saber around to stab the stumbling Jedi in the back, using the force to throw it and aim it in the air and pull it back, etc. That way the fight could've been more interesting and less "traditional." Plus, during the Yoda/Sidious Force fight, at the end he could cheat and use the lightsaber to almost fatally wound Yoda forcing the Jedi to retreat like in the movie only for a better reason because in the movie it almost seems like Yoda just gives up.
But speaking about problems with the films. Here's one from the Original. Leia KNOWS she's being followed by the Empire. So what does she do? F*CKING GOES BACK TO THE REBEL BASE AND ENDANGERS F*CKING EVERYONE. REAL SMART LEIA. Also, why didn't the Death Star just shoot through the planet, recharge, then fire again instead of taking time to get ALLLLL the way around it. Why is there a conveniently placed hole that LEADS TO THE FREAKING REACTOR??? And if for god's sake your brilliant plan was to just rebuild the same thing that was defeated by like 10 starfighters, why the heck would you not learn from your mistakes? I mean yeah there's no more small hole....but NOW THERE'S A HUDE ONE THAT THE MILLENIUM FALCON CAN FLY INTO. IF all else failed they could just kamikaze into the reactor and sacrifice themselves in order to blow the thing up. Better yet...why would you have ANOTHER giant hole IN THE THRONE ROOM....which also seemingly leads to some form of reactor (unless that's just his force energy exploding out of him...I forget the canon explanation for that blue explosion when the Emperor falls down the shaft. But still. C'mon. Yeah, the Prequels aren't perfect and yeah, the Originals are better but...let's be fair and reasonable...there are issues with the Prequels that are pretty abundant in the Originals too.
But still. May Star Wars Live Long and Prosper -- trolololol.
But seriously.
...but lightsabers look soooooo cooool.
All I know is when I watch my SW collection I have 3 additional movies too enjoy.
I hope the Live Action TV show is good.
