Having a few 'issues' in Win7-64
Loved this game, thought I'd try it again. Since the last time I have upgraded the system a few times here and there so, wanted to play this thing maxed out but no luck.
I have a Core2Duo 2.4Ghz, 4GB ram, and a 1GB GDDR5 ATI HD4560 card, running Win7-64.
Given what the min. specs were for the game what, 8 yrs ago (?) this thing should be like a super-computer!
Anyways, running at full the game doesn't start, just a black screen. Played a bit with the settings and after dropping water/shadow down to HIGH from VERY HIGH, it started. When I went to play a game, the status bar froze so... dropped a few more settings down a notch and plays.
Problem now is, mouse doesn't work. Works fine in the setup screens, but one the game is loaded no mouse. Set to default as well as per another post, but no change.
FarCry was also updated with patch 1.4 cumulative, set at 1680x1050 screen size.
... any suggestions? Really hoped to have this running all maxed out, kinda disappointed so far.

If I am not mistaken you actually need to install the 64-bit upgrade patch.I read somewhere that this would make Far Cry 1 run on 64-bit Windows. However, Multiplayer will not work.http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/answ...64-bit-upgrade
As for the mouse not working, I've had that too. You have to first make sure you have a save game profile created. After that in the settings you have to set the mouse settings to default.
Then the mouse should start functioning and you won't have to click the default settings again. After that you can modify your other control settings without it affecting your mouse. As for your other issues like the black screen. I guess they would be resolved if you install the 64-bit upgrade patch.
