Yep, Those MM Encores Really DO Suck! Got My First One Last Night. . .

Just yesterday I told myself I should really run through the dozen or so songs I've got mastered, just to refresh my memory. And, I had every intention of doing that - later. I should have done it sooner. I had 5 events stacked up and ready to play last night so I decided to throw my personal 70k minimum out the window and just play an event. Things went surprisingly well considering that I hadn't put nearly as much work into these songs as I had put into previous events. I actually levelled up some phrases while playing the event and I got a couple of all-time high scores on two of the 6 songs. A double-encore performance was looking good! Then it happened - Master Mode Encore. . .

Next Girl. The easiest Rocksmith song of all or close to it. I had played it before and I had it mastered, but I hadn't played it since March 13th, according to my rehearsal notes. Told myself to relax and just find a note - any note - and build on that. By the end of the song, I was getting close. I must have hit at least a few notes because I didn't get a Zero for a score, but man that sucked. So, now I guess I can join all you guys who have been complaining about MM encores. But, you know what really makes me mad about it? It's just that this song is sooo freaking easy to play (there's not even a solo) - I should have picked it up at least by the 3d measure or so, but I didn't. So, I'm more mad at myself than at RS. Still, a little warning or some kind of predictable pattern would be helpful. Like, MM encores are picked from your list of mastered songs in order alphabetically or by score from high to low or something. Anything. If there was something like that in place, I'd have at least had Next Girl (or whatever song) in my regular practice list.

On that note, maybe we can put our heads together and figure out how MM Encores come up - the way we figured out the scoring system. Then we'd know what to expect. Just a thought. It might be too random or too individualized to figure out, but it's worth a shot.

(I was so pi55ed at myself that I went into Songs and worked Next Girl until I got a 100% accuracy/270 NS and then played it in MM a few times just to drive it into my memory.)

BTDT, but mine was Go With the Flow (combo or whichever one has the chords). I couldn't believe I forgot it. I did manage to get 150K.

As I'm writing this, I think I have forgotten it again. LOL!

I got one the other day it was Bring me to Life by Evanescence, I actually remembered it. I don't recall the score but I do remember feeling good about it as I had only played it a handful of times.

Now, imagine you had over 180 masterred arrangements for the game to choose from between disc and DLC content

Yeah, I am not commiting all of my masterred songs to memory anytime soon...

My opinion is the game should do one of three things:
    1) Choose the encore, and you get the option of playing it in Master Mode, or regular
    2) Force you to play a MM encore, but let you choose the song
    3) Let you decide you don't want to play the encore (just leave the stage and call it a day) if it forces a MM song you don't know on you

My MM encore is almost always the same song "When I'm With You". The only thing that varies is the arrangement. I only have a dozen or so arrangements mastered, but strangely, this one shows up about 80% of the time.

The two hat come up for me are evanescence and next girl.

I failed miserably on both. The second time I got next girl, I opened up YouTube and used that as a guide to remind me as I played through. I got the double encore and failed miserably on the second one. Lol
i post from my iPad most of the time so forgive the typos!

I got "Satisfaction" chord version. I have not played that in months and don't remember it at all. I just decided to strum E, A and D chords as fast as I could the whole song and I wound up scoring over 200k.

I quit playing events completely after an "A More Perfect Union" MM encore (I already had SSB unlocked).

despite playing well enough to qualify for one, I have not gotten an encore since level 7 after unlocking all the hidden songs. I think my game is broken.

You have 180 mastered arrangements? Holy crap! I've got maybe 15 and a few of those are alternate arrangements of the same songs. I'd be a little surprised if anyone could remember more than maybe 20 songs well enough to just play them off the top of their head. (Think about it - how many songs does a band play during a single concert?) So, in addition to your suggestions (all good ones), I'd say there should be a limited number of arrangements/songs from which RS draws MM encores. Perhaps there could be a user-defined setlist of memorized songs?

"BTDT?" You kids and your lingo! WTH does BTDT mean? I'm not sure I'd recognize Go with the Flow if it came on the radio today! I last played that one at the end of March. . .

Songs seem to come back to me pretty well, but even stuff I've heard for years sometimes just totally slips my mind. It's not old age, either - I've always been this way. I've got to keep a setlist behind my drums with notes that cue me into how to start the songs. Once we get going, I'm OK but that first measure is critical!

Hopefully that'll be the case for me - because Bring Me to Life was DLC that I haven't bought yet! That would leave Next Girl, which I'm pretty familiar with after last night. (I plan to keep beating this one up until I get a 100% MM run.)
