Just yesterday I told myself I should really run through the dozen or so songs I've got mastered, just to refresh my memory. And, I had every intention of doing that - later. I should have done it sooner. I had 5 events stacked up and ready to play last night so I decided to throw my personal 70k minimum out the window and just play an event. Things went surprisingly well considering that I hadn't put nearly as much work into these songs as I had put into previous events. I actually levelled up some phrases while playing the event and I got a couple of all-time high scores on two of the 6 songs. A double-encore performance was looking good! Then it happened - Master Mode Encore. . .
Next Girl. The easiest Rocksmith song of all or close to it. I had played it before and I had it mastered, but I hadn't played it since March 13th, according to my rehearsal notes. Told myself to relax and just find a note - any note - and build on that. By the end of the song, I was getting close. I must have hit at least a few notes because I didn't get a Zero for a score, but man that sucked. So, now I guess I can join all you guys who have been complaining about MM encores. But, you know what really makes me mad about it? It's just that this song is sooo freaking easy to play (there's not even a solo) - I should have picked it up at least by the 3d measure or so, but I didn't. So, I'm more mad at myself than at RS. Still, a little warning or some kind of predictable pattern would be helpful. Like, MM encores are picked from your list of mastered songs in order alphabetically or by score from high to low or something. Anything. If there was something like that in place, I'd have at least had Next Girl (or whatever song) in my regular practice list.
On that note, maybe we can put our heads together and figure out how MM Encores come up - the way we figured out the scoring system. Then we'd know what to expect. Just a thought. It might be too random or too individualized to figure out, but it's worth a shot.
(I was so pi55ed at myself that I went into Songs and worked Next Girl until I got a 100% accuracy/270 NS and then played it in MM a few times just to drive it into my memory.)
